Scottish referees are always at the forefront of all discussions on the Scottish game at the moment.
Joe even discussed in depth on our podcast last night the recent performances of Don Robertson.
The recent decision at Dens Park by Robertson to only award a yellow card after Alistair Johnston received a boot to the head was scandalous.
Yang was sent off for a high boot last season that did not even make contact with the other player involved, Alex Cochrane.
As a result, I’ve decided to put to a vote, who officially, is the worst referee in Scottish football.
For good measure, and for those of you with long memories, I’ve included a few from the past as well, one in particular those of us of a certain vintage will never forget.
It’s a sad indictment of the state of Scottish refereeing that we are actually in a position to vote who the worst referee in the game is.
It’s fair to say it would be extremely hard to conduct a vote to find who the best is, that’s for sure.
So here we go, get voting on who you think is the worst!
I went for Bobby Tait, you knew he was a ‘Tangerine coloured chap without a father’ he made it abundantly clear in every derby game he refereed. Pundits ridiculed Alan Stubbs for saying that Tait told him he’d never get a penalty in a derby at Ibrox but everyone knows that it’s true, anyone who says it’s not is living in cloud cuckoo land or as corrupt as the SFA, SPFL and the SRA all put together.
Good shout, Torky58. My worst ref is RH Davidson. This fella made Tait look like a rabid Fenian.

The fact is nobody should be voting on anybody it was obvious to all concerned in the running off Scottish Football past and present what was going on and nothing said …it was all in your head … well here we are 2024 nothings changed so would it have mattered who you voted for????corruption from top down !!!!!!!!!

I remember Tiny Warton, out and out Hun Ref. Always swore he was impartial. Two weeks after retiring from Refereeing, he was invited to join the rangers Board. Dallas was another, who hardly made any excuse to cover his bias. Latterly, we had bobby Madden and still have Cheatin Beatin. The list is endless, but is endemic in the SFA and Scottish Football. Come on Celtic Let’s challenge these bastrds
RH Davidson. refereed 8 old firm games round about the time Celtic won the European cup. 5 Rangers victories and 3 draws.

For those of us who remember back that far then it is Bobby Davidson – no danger. Check the video of the 1970 Cup Final if you are unsure. Dishonourable mention for Ian Foote and JPR Gordon. They make this present lot look like altar servers … 🙄

Hasnt anyone noticed, Scotland does not have any referee’s, we have officials that are supplied with a whistle which remarkedly sounds like a flute.
i would say the lot of them dirty corrupt scumbags the officials in the Scottish game and for that rat Crawford Allan i hope some mad fan gets a hold of him and that loyalist cheat beaton and hope they dont miss them ..thats the only way The Ranjurs 2012 can won anything is cheat as we all no EBT SIDELETTERS RINGS A BELL..HAIL HAIL TO THE CELTIC FAMILY…
If Don Robertson isn’t in an intimate relationship with Alistair Johnston I will be very surprised. Johnston would have been red carded three times today by any other referees, even Willie Colum. His biased vendetta goes back to Johnstons hand ball against Morelos and has continued ever since.

I think it depends upon your interpretation of “worst” referee!
Worst as in just clueless, or most blatantly corrupt.
Most blatantly corrupt for me is without question Hugh Dallas, closely followed by his son Andrew who seems to be hell-bent on avenging his daddy’s exposure and eventual enforced expulsion and banishment, albeit short term.
But the SFA has been a breeding ground for these corrupt officials!
I must admit though, as much as we all know John Beaton is a boyhood Rangers fan, I find him a fair and hobest referee. Probably one of the best, if not THE best in Scotland.
Collum himself was a poor referee who always wanted to be the MoM.
Good referees should finish the game and leave you thinking afterwards, “who was the ref today?”
Unfortunately we rarely have that pleasure in Scotland!
Too many are tit for tat refs. If they issue cards to one team they feel duty bound to issue them to the other team too! If Celtic get a rare penalty, the ref does everything in his power to give our opponent one too. (If they can get into our box)
But there isn’t a single bad ref currently that standsout more than Andrew Dallas for me, and his corrupt father before him.
