Harry Kane expects a night to remember at Celtic Park, let’s make it one he remembers for all the wrong reasons

It’s that time again, when stars of top tier visiting sides in the Champions League wax lyrical about the atmosphere, and it being a life’s ambition play there.
As if Celtic Park is some kind of tourist attraction, rather than the fortress it once used to be on European nights.
In the last few months, it’s seemed like Celtic Park has started to revert to being a fortress.
Harry Kane is the latest in a long line of stars stating that he’s about fulfil a lifetime’s ambition by playing at Celtic Park.
The Bayern Munich man has scored 29 penalties in a row for the Bundesliga side, adding two more to his tally on Saturday last against Werder Bremen.
This will be the first time Kane has played at Celtic Park.
Let’s make it one he remembers for all the wrong reasons, instead of it being a tourist attraction to him and his teammates.
With the news last night that Daizen Maeda has been cleared to play after winning his appeal against a two match suspension, this game has taken on an altogether different perspective.
We spoke about on Sunday evening’s podcast about the fact that when we had to make substitutions up front in the game, we would have to bring on the likes of Johnny Kenny and Hyun-Jun Yang.
This is no longer the case.
We now have the luxury of starting Daizen Maeda, and keeping Jota as an impact sub, should we require him to make an impact.
It’s probably the kind of news Bayern Munich didn’t want to hear.
Considering the kind of form Maeda has been in of late for Celtic.
But it also gives the manager other options.
Late in the game, he could bring Jota on, take Adam Idah off, and move Maeda into the middle.
Where, as we also discussed on the podcast, we know he’s well capable of doing a job.
It makes a task that was difficult enough to begin with, that little bit easier.
Harry Kane can expect an amazing atmosphere tomorrow night.
Celtic fans have waited long enough to get to this stage in Europe’s premier competition.
2013 was the last time we got to the knock-out phase of this tournament, when we faced Juventus.
No disrespect to the manager who got us there that time, but the man in the dugout now is a man who really wants to shine at this level.
Tomorrow night is that opportunity.
It is the chance to prove to all the doubters that we belong at this level.
That we are good enough to compete at this level.
And that we are not just a tourist attraction for the big sides.
I genuinely believe we can give Bayern Munich a fright tomorrow night.
And Harry Kane too.
We just need to come out of the traps with the bit between our teeth and take it to the Bundesliga side.
Let them know they’re in a game from the first kick of the ball.
If we do that, and the crowd plays their part?
Then the sky is the limit.
Bring it on!

I’m with you Eric, I think we can shock them tomorrow night. Having Maeda in the fray is a god send. Munich play a high line, we can get in behind if they come at us. We just need to be disciplined and resolute at the back. What an atmosphere it’ll be 🇮🇪🙌🏼

Celtic have surprised me getting this far Eric and I’m delighted we got through the group but when some supporters were saying we’d get ten points before the tournament I was asking based on what? We’d no Champions League pedigree for the last twelve years we were cannon fodder if truth be told so I wondered what made them see this time differently? I’m man enough to admit I was wrong and we’ve been great this season and the players have really stepped up to the plate and I couldn’t be happier, we’re in the play-off on merit. The transfer window should’ve reinforced our chances of going even further but once again this board’s failure to get players in has stifled our chances of going deep into the tournament. I firmly believe we can beat anyone at Celtic Park and I think we’ll win tomorrow night by the odd goal but if we strengthened we had a real chance as Bayern haven’t been as good as they were in previous seasons and with a couple of signings they were there for the taking, if we’d got a proven goalscorer in in this window I think we’d have won this tie but as it is I think we’ll lose on aggregate over the piece. That’s not me being defeatist it’s just me being a realist, if we’ve got any real chance of progressing to the next round we’d need to win by four goals in my opinion. We’ve got a world class manager who’s being given Vauxhall Conference tools to work with by an inept and incompetent board who are hamstringing the manager in what he could achieve. Celtic need to become a force in Europe again but it won’t happen under this board, will this season be a one off where we’ve got through the group and we’ll need to wait another twelve years to see it again or will this be a regular occurrence now? We’ve had a taste of it, my guess is it will be the former and not the latter but it’s up to that board to prove me wrong but I doubt very much that they will.

The sooner these losers in the boardroom AND the feckin golf course get the fuck out of our great club,the sooner we might actually show any ambition at an executive level to achieve our potential.
