Bazza HAS to hit the ground running and cut the gap to Celtic back to 13, but will he be schooled by wily ex-brown brogue wearing McInnes tonight?

Celtic ran out comfortable winners against Aberdeen last night, opening up a 16 point gap between us and the Ibrox side.

While we might have started shakily, a wasteful Aberdeen side paid the price for not taking their chances, and the Bhoys found themselves 3 nil up by half time.

It was always going to be a comfortable affair in the second half after that.

Hyun-Jun Yang proved he is learning under Brendan Rodgers.

His goal was well worked and pretty much created by Yang himself, with the the Korean player finishing the move off beautifully by driving the ball in at Ross Doohan’s near post.

Daizen Maeda bagged another 2 goals, along with one 1 each for Jota and CalMac.

I’m sure the board is delighted with their decision to force Brendan into having to play Maeda as a centre-forward.

They know best, of course.

Overall, it was a decent performance, despite Aberdeen’s creation of plenty of chances.

Had the Pittodrie side been a bit more clinical in the first half, the game could have been a completely different contest.

But it’s like the old cliché goes, goals win games, and we scored 5 to their 1.

Ultimately, that’s what counts at the end of the day.

We now sit comfortably atop the table, 16 points clear of Barry Ferguson’s Ibrox side.

Focus switches to Ferguson and his new group, Hun Direction, tonight.

Bazza and Ibrox charges take the short trip to Kilmarnock to play Derek McInnes’ side at Rugby Park.

I’m sure this morning that the brown brogues have been well polished and buffed, with the club blazers and ties pressed and ready.

This is a monumental occasion for Bazza, Greegsy, Doddsy, and McCann and the other Moroccan fella.

You know?

The one who has the proper coaching badges?

Issame Charai, isn’t it?

Charai seems to have more coaching experience than the rest of Hun Direction put together, albeit in the role of Assistant Manager.

But he has worked at some top Belgian clubs in his time, such as Beerschot, Sint-Truiden, and OH Leuven, along with a 2 year stint as coach of the Morrocan under-23 side.

I can kind of see why they kept him in place.

It certainly wasn’t for his staunch loyalty to the cause anyway, if you catch my drift?

I digress, back to tonight’s game at Rugby Park.

On the touchline, it’ll be a who’s who of ex-Ibrox players and coaches.

And I’ve no doubt they’ll all get together afterwards for a beer or a dram, regardless of the result, to reminisce about the good old days of staunch glory.

But for Bazza and Hun Direction, the pressure is immense from the off.

He does NOT want to start his tenure as interim boss with a loss that leaves him 16 points behind Celtic.

Bazza has to be seen to be hitting the ground running.

As I said in Monday’s article, he has all the requisite criteria to be a real Raynjurz coach, except one critical ability.

And that’s the ability to coach football players at Scottish Premiership level.

Something he has never done in his illustrious management career at Clyde, Kelty Hearts, and Alloa, up to this point.

Unfortunately for Bazza, he’s up against a wily old campaigner in Derek McInnes.

Despite his Ibrox history, McInnes has taken scalps off his old side a fair few times down through the years, both as Kilmarnock coach, and at Aberdeen.

Tonight will be one those challenges he’s relishing, because he knows this is a very weak Ibrox side he’s going to be facing.

With, let’s face reality, a very weak management team.

The image of this game tonight brings to mind the House of Pain tune, Put your shitkickers on.

And kick some shit….

Because when Bazza says he’s going to harden up these boys, that’s what he means.

He’s going to coach them to become nasty f***ers.

And if there’s one thing he’s going to do, it’s use referee allegiances very much to his advantage.

Either way, he HAS to win tonight.

He is going to be desperate to win tonight.

And that desperation will play right into Derek McInnes’ hands.

His Kilmarnock side haven’t exactly been setting the world alight this season, but McInnes definitely has the tactical nous to outsmart rookie coach Bazza.

I personally think that’s how it will pan out tonight.

A hammer throwing, shit kicking game of head tennis, with the ball spending more time in orbit than on the ground, that will finish 2-1 to the home side.

Don Robertson will certainly have his hands full tonight.

Bazza and Hun Direction will get a cold hard dose of reality.

The travelling support will travel in expectation of a win, because Bazza always talks about a winning mentality.

They’ll leave feeling the same way they did last Saturday at Ibrox.

Follow Follow will be full of demands that he gets sacked by 10.30 tonight.

How could he let them fall 16 points behind Celtic?!

Oh yeah, and if it’s freezing tonight at Rugby, Robin Propper and Clinton Nsiala better leave their gloves in the dressing room!

Ain’t no pussies in the Ibrox dressing room allowed to wear gloves.

Tonight the gloves are well and truly off.
