With the next Glasgow Derby just around the corner on March 16th, I felt a quiz to that effect to get us in the mood!
Today, we’re talking about Demolition derbies – there’s been a few of them down through the years and bhoy, have they been unforgettable!
For this evening’s quiz, I’m going to focus on four in particular, starting with our 5-1 win over Rangers 1872 on November 21st 1998. Nobody gave us a prayer in this game, but we shocked everybody by rampaging to a 5-1 victory which will long in the memory.
Secondly, we’ll look at the amazing 6-2 two victory over Rangers 1872 in August 2000. Celtic had just come off the back of a dismal season after the failed Barnes/Dalglish experiment. A new man was in the dug out and he was determined to leave his mark in his first Derby game in charge.
He did that and then some!
For our final two derbies, I’ll be asking some questions about the 5-1 Demb-olition derby in September 2016 and the final away derby in April 2017Â of that season – where we thrashed the Ibrox side by the same margin on their home turf – ensuring the rickety old stadium was empty except for the free Broomloan end, with 20 minutes remaining.
