It was statement o’clock again last night at Ibrox.
And not shockingly, it was another statement on fan behaviour, or the future of a certain part of the Ibrox fanbase anyway.
I think we’ve seen more statements on fan behaviour coming out of Ibrox this season than we have since the current entity crawled out of the grave of the dead club.
We all know it isn’t because Ibrox chiefs suddenly want to clean up the club’s act.
They’ve never given a damn how their fanbase behaved before now.
It’s because their hand is being forced on this, and they’ve been given no choice but to clean up their act.
Yesterday evening, Ross Pilcher of the Record published an article with the following headline:
R*****s warn Union Bears Ibrox singing section could be scrapped over ‘issues of concern’ and fans face bill for fines

Now, if there was ever a draconian headline, that is it.
Could you imagine if our club threatened to disband the Green Brigade like that?
And then on top of it, stated that fans would have to foot the bill for fines incurred over their behaviour?
Not that it would matter to our fanbase, though.
We’ve proven categorically that we can raise the cost of fines to be repaid, and then some.
But there is no possible way that the onion bears would have the drive or the wherewithal to do the same thing.
No, this kind of thing would surely only result in white hot rage over there, wouldn’t it?
But it hasn’t, it’s been broadly welcomed by fans.
Which can clearly be seen over on their forums, especially Follow Follow:

That is just a sample of the reaction from yesterday.
In reality, there are very little dissenters when it comes to this.
Which proves that the majority of the fans, and the board at Ibrox really want change.
But the critical question here is this, would they still want that change if the US takeover wasn’t on the cards?
I think we all know the answer to that.
The reality here is that desperation is setting in over there.
Both amongst the fanbase, and the board.
The board, simply because they want all of the money they’ve ploughed into that club back.
And the fans, because they’re sick and tired of being in our shadow.
They will do anything at this point to begin the process of getting out of that shadow.
But what they don’t seem to grasp is that this is not something that’s going to happen overnight.
They only need to look at Leeds to see that the US investors are not the kind of investors who will just plough money into their club, and expect nothing back in return.
Leeds have now been dragged into a battle for automatic promotion to the EPL.
A few weeks ago, it looked like they were going to do it without too much difficulty.
Now they’re starting to falter.
A 97th minute equaliser from Swansea in a 2-2 draw last weekend shows that the jitters are really starting to set in at Elland Road.
The US investors haven’t ploughed money into Leeds.
In fact they’ve taken out more than they’ve put in, and they’ve been hoping Leeds would make it to the promised land without major investment.
The huge payments the club would receive as a result of promotion would net them a fortune.
That’s now hanging in the balance.
At Ibrox, there is no likelihood of an income stream like that of EPL riches.
So what makes Ibrox fans think that they’re going to invest vast fortunes into their club?
For little or no return?
They are actually so desperate to get this deal over the line that they’re willing to see an Ibrox without the onion bears.
They just want change, because they’re sick and tired of the status quo.
They’re tired of the same groundhog day seasons.
Over and over again, since they first got promoted as a new club to the Scottish top flight.
At this point, anything will do.
We spoke on our latest podcast about the board’s desperation to get them in line before this month’s derby at Ibrox.
It seems that this particular desperation has gone up a few notches.

Are we about to see an Ibrox minus it’s sectarian bile and singing when Celtic next visit?
Stranger things have been known to happen.
But is seems as if they’re becoming a united force over there, and that the onion bears are a minority.
A minority that they’re willing to do without.
Could this club finally be dragging itself into the 21st century after all?
It remains to be seen, but I won’t hold my breath.
Our game against them this month could be very telling.
Will it be the Billy boys, or the Yankee boys?
And which is the lesser of two evils?
Well, I guess we’ll just wait to see what statement o’clock brings next.
It can never be said that it’s not entertaining anyway.
Is comedy club Sevco about to become serious club Sevco?
We’re about to find out…
Into the 21st century you say? NOT A FUCKING CHANCE!
If they were to have a collection to pay for any fines the that would go missing like the poppy collection or missing like the armed forces collection.
They’ll behave until the yanks come in (I know) and then resort back to being Neanderthal’s.
HH
Imagine next time at Ibrox for the derby and Celtic score first or take the lead in the game ? Chances of the Troglodyte choir refraining from their songbook singing would be nil ..in my opinion ! Also , I’m guessing here , but if any American investor was insane enough to splash their borrowed dough to purchase the Ibroxland confetti paper , wouldn’t that be subject to any reciprocal tariffs from the english government as the Donald has applied to us …10 % on top of the agreed figure to buy the shares ? That would be a right old proper kick in the Donegal’s! Where’s that old brown jock strap ?
Global stock market crashing , American consumers hit with 6 trillion dollar tax increase, not much cash slushing about as a result any takeover which the York family said nothing was happening, a few cunning shady people might take it off their hands for a few dollars not much more , don’t think it will happen and the rag ers fans will never change , so all in all nothing happening apart from a few tyre kickers.
Too many morons at Ibrox. Don’t see the bigger picture. They will always be in our shadow. When we do the treble, that’s 3 more trophies ahead of Scotland’s second most successful team. Hail Hail.
…and Glasgow’s 4th oldest team, Gerry. The Huns get a tad offended, when this fact is pointed out to them.
Hail Hail.
Agree with article but we also have neanderthals aka green brigade, who chased Abada out, who beat up a true Celtic supporter for wearing a support Israel ( which I do ) and who cost us money and shame with there bigoted banners. Union bears, green brigade, same scumm different names.
