This talk of Kyogo returning to Celtic is rubbish, it needs to be knocked on the head

Over the last few Trinity Tims podcasts, we’ve talked a lot about managers and players who’ve returned to Celtic down through the years.

We even joked about Ange Postecoglou returning to the club if Brendan Rodgers doesn’t extend his current deal beyond the agreed 3 years.

Ironically, despite us joking about this, it is conceivably something that COULD happen at Celtic.

But in reality, this is the sort of culture we need to move away from.

Simply because it smacks of laziness.

It smacks of a complete lack of effort when it comes to recruitment.

Both in player recruitment and managerial recruiting.

Putting the Ange Postecoglou joking aside, there’s one particular rumour involving a former player that just will not die.

The fact that it’s being given continuous oxygen by certain Celtic sites that are rarely on the money when it comes to player moves at the club, makes it all the more ridiculous.

Anybody who thinks that Kyogo Furuhashi will be returning to Celtic this summer, is only saying it to attract readers and clicks.

It is not going to happen.

For a myriad of reasons.

A club who paid £10 million for is not just going to allow the player to leave 6 months later to return to the club he came from.

That would represent a huge loss for Rennes.

Even if they were willing to let the player go, which they’re not, they would expect some return on the initial fee they paid for him.

Football Insider, with their impeccable sources, were trying to spin it that Rennes would let Kyogo return for just £3.5 million.

Fantastic business….

If you come from cloud cuckoo land.

As we all know well enough, nothing that site ever says comes to frutlition.

How does anyone with even half a brain imagine that a club who paid £10 million for a player, would then allow that player to return to the club they bought him for 6 months later, and incur a £6.5 million loss in the process?

That aside, they haven’t even bothered to take into consideration whether Brendan Rodgers would actually want Kyogo Furuhashi back at the club.

But think about it logically, such a scenario would be like Celtic saying, “we’ll loan Kyogo Furuhashi to you for £10 million for six months, and then we’ll pay you a third of what you paid us to take him back.”

Thus banking £6.5 million profit in the process.

I mean, I know Silent Mike and Pete are good, but they’re not that good.

So why do people keep persisting with this tripe?

Why do certain sites keep pushing this myth when there’s no real foundation to it at all?

They certainly aren’t doing it because they know something we don’t.

These sites do not have sources.

They have has beens who have no real skin in the game any more.

Others have writers who churn out stories on an industrial level, not just about Celtic, but about several EPL and La Liga clubs as well.

With no real allegiances to any as such.

One even writes about cricket.

Could you REALLY call yourself a Celtic blogger if you write about cricket?

These stories aren’t written to keep Celtic fans informed on what’s really going on at the club.

They’re written to make money through clicks, on an industrial scale, without any real dedication to the truth.

They are, in reality, just pure speculation.

Myself, and my colleagues James at The Celtic Blog, and Joe at VideoCelts write about facts.

Real Celtic stories, and how we see them, as well as the behaviour of the club across the city.

If we speculate, we give an honest opinion on how we think things might pan out in certain situations.

More often than not, our speculation is pretty accurate.

This comes from years of experience and support of Celtic Football club.

We are solely dedicated to Celtic, and have no qualms about highlighting the farcical behaviour of the Ibrox club.

I can pretty much guarantee you than not one of us would tell you that there’s a chance at this moment in time that Kyogo Furuhashi will return to Celtic this summer.

Because it isn’t going to happen.

Kyogo Furuhashi is not going to back track, and return to Celtic Park with his tail between his legs.

He’s facing one hell of a challenge at Rennes, but I have no doubt he is going to face that challenge, and come out the other side of it a stronger player.

Both mentally, and physically.

If Brendan Rodgers wants to bring in another striker this summer, I don’t think Kyogo is going to be at the top of his list.

Especially when you consider that Kyogo struggled to adapt to Rodgers’ style of play.

So, every second day that you see a story about the Japanese striker, you’ll see the same sites regurgitating it over and over again.

I’m knocking it on the head today, I won’t be speaking about Kyogo Furuhashi again, unless I have concrete reasons to do so.

As of now, I do not believe he will be returning to Celtic any time soon.

It would be a retrograde step for him, and for the club.

Would I welcome him back?

I’m not so sure.

I don’t see any major benefits to it right now.

For him, or for us.

He made his choice, now he has rise to the challenge it has presented to him.

I don’t doubt that he will, and I wish him all the best.
