Gerrard “waived £10million” to avoid relegation with Al-Ettifaq, and this is the odds on favourite to stop Celtic and Brendan Rodgers??

According to an article in the Record this morning, Steven Gerrard “waived £10 Millon because if Al-Ettifaq had been relegated with him, it would have caused a crisis in his coaching career”.

And this is the guy the Ibrox fanbase believes can challenge Celtic and bring a title back to Ibrox??

The ironic thing about this is that Record, despite the language this damning article, is still promoting Gerrard for the job.

Ibrox fans should be grateful he snubbed £10 million to keep his career alive, shouldn’t they?

This is actually hilarious.

What this is basically saying is that Gerrard ran Al-Ettifaq into the ground.

So much so, that he was afraid they’d get relegated and didn’t want to be associated with that.

So Gerrard waived £10 million in the hopes it would keep his managerial career alive.

In other words, I’ll forego that £10 million rather than being labelled an shite manager if I get this club relegated.

This is Gerrard basically admitting he’s shite at football management, and he cut sticks from Saudi Arabia in the hopes nobody would notice before it was too late.

I’ll reiterate once again, this is the man who is the odds on favourite to take on the Ibrox job.

The man who they’re going to put all of their faith in to halt Celtic’s dominance.

What’s even more amusing about this is that the Record doesn’t realise what a damning article this is.

It makes the odds on favourite for the job out to be a rank amateur.

Who runs at the first sign of a crisis or a serious challenge.

What would have been way more career defining for Gerrard, would have been to stay at the club he was at, help them fight off relegation, and pocket the £10 million he waived.

Which their current manager, Saad Al-Shehri, seems have managed to do without too much difficulty.

They are now on 40 points and comfortably above mid-table.

Maybe the 49ers consortium should consider Al-Shehri for the manager’s job at Ibrox?

Especially since he seems capable of doing a better job than Steven Gerrard can?

The proof is in the pudding since he’s steadied the ship at Al-Ettifaq since Gerrard left the club.

I wrote an article yesterday, stating that if Gerrard is going to be the extent of the prospective new owner’s ambition, then they aren’t going to challenge Celtic.

The Record then goes and produces a damning article like this, without actually realising how damaging it is.

I said it on the Trinity Tims podcast last night, I would welcome the appointment of Gerrard.

Today’s article in the Record confirms exactly why I’d welcome it.

The manager who is odds on favourite for the job waived £10 million because he feared he’d get Al-Ettifaq relegated.

Thus, he’d run the risk of destroying his reputation as a manager.

You couldn’t make this up.

Celtic fans should roll out the red carpet for Gerrard if he gets the Ibrox job.

Please, please, please, let it be him!
