There’s a reason you see very little fantastical stories in the media about Celtic.
In fact, there’s a very good reason the columns in the SMSM newspapers are filled with stories about the Ibrox side.
Because you can write loads of stories that come from total fantasy, but it’s hard to regurgitate many when it comes to facts.
With fact, something is either happening, or it isn’t.
You can’t speculate about facts.
Most stories you read in the media about Celtic are generally rooted in reality, and in fact.
That’s why there are much less stories in the papers about Celtic than there are about the Ibrox side.
Nobody speculates about Celtic.
Because on the rare occasion Celtic will release something to their trusted contacts in the media, it will be based on fact.
The Ibrox side, on the other hand, fills the SMSM full of shit.
And the SMSM happily runs with it.
That’s why you see story after story in the papers speculating about complete bullshit.
It’s why you have useful idiots like Keith Jackson, and Hugh Keevins in the media.
Although in Keevins’ case, I don’t think you can sell bullshit to someone who’s already full of it.
Boy can that man bullshit, and he makes it all up as he goes along.
Hence the reason nothing he speaks about ever comes to pass.
But a lot of the time, the Ibrox side doesn’t need to do anything.
The media is happy to fixate on a story that is made up from pure speculation, and then they will run and run with it.
Somebody will sow the seeds of a story that is so fantastical, it defies logic.
But they will latch on to it, and quote “according to a report” or “sources say”, and the most gullible of the Ibrox support out there will fall for it.
Hook, line and sinker.
Today’s story from Scott McDermott, the Record’s in house Ibrox expert, is a prime example of one of those stories.
This is someone adding 1 and 0, and coming up with 55, if you catch my drift?
Sorry, I’m getting a bit distracted.
Back to McDermott.
Ever since the story emerged about Paraag Marathe flying in for crunch talks with Daniel Farke in relation to his Leeds United future, the assumption is that if Leeds let him go, he’ll be offered the Ibrox job.
Genuinely, it is the stuff of absolute fantasy.
The fact that McDermott thinks it’s even possible shows that he has no credibility whatsoever as a serious journalist.
This is an Ibrox fan boy wishing a ridiculous scenario into existence.
And I’ll explain why.
In fact I’ll explain it rationally from what I believe would be Daniel Farke’s point of view.

Think about this logically, if Daniel Farke ends up getting “removed” from his role as Leeds United manager after guiding them to the EPL, do you imagine he’s going to be happy about it?
In his own mind he’ll be thinking, “I’ve just taken this team into the EPL, and this is how I’m going to be rewarded?”
Now, I don’t know what goes on in Farke’s head, but any normal human being would look at it that way.
Any normal human being would feel very hard done by.
And I don’t think Farke is any different in that regard.
To do that to him would be a kick in the teeth.
It would be the ultimate insult to what he has just achieved.
Any football manager who achieves promotion from the English Championship to the EPL would want to be the manager in place to take them on their journey in that league.
The richest league in world football.
To have guided a team into that league, and then be told we’re not retaining your services as manager?
Well, that would be soul destroying.
Thanks very much, but there’s a hundred of us on this consortium, and we all can’t agree to you being the manager.
You’d be thinking that Farke would be raging at this point.
And he and his management team would be very close to telling said consortium politely where to go.
But wait for it.
Meanwhile in La La Land, they’ve cooked up a story that Daniel Farke will be offered the Ibrox job as a sweetener, and he wouldn’t be able to resist it.
Here’s why, according to McDermott:
Do you think he would turn it down? Not if they make it worth his while, offering up the carrot of a chunky transfer kitty and potential Champions League football.
The “chunky transfer kitty” is where this falls flat on it’s face.
And of course, the “potential Champions League football”, would only be possible if they could navigate two qualification rounds.
In answer to McDermott’s dumb ass question, YES, he would turn it down!
Because it would be an insult to him.
A derisory poor man’s excuse for a job in comparison to entertaining the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United.
Especially since you worked bloody hard to get yourself into that position.
Only to have your EPL dreams crushed by the faceless consortium of 100.
Farke; “Let me think about that one, Old Trafford on a cold January Saturday afternoon, or Dingwall?”
“Hmmmm, well, it has been dream of mine to manage at such a historic venue like Dingwall. With a light sprinkling of snow and the risk of hypothermia, yes Paraag, it would be an honour to manage at Ibrox!”
Yeah, you can see just how ridiculous that sounds, can’t you?
How totally batshit it is that he’d even consider it.
And before anyone says, “well Brendan Rodgers made that choice, didn’t he?”
Rodgers hadn’t slogged through a 46 game season in the Championship to get to the EPL, only to be faced with the possibility of it being snatched from under his nose.
McDermott goes on to come out with this gem:
But he’s proved himself to be an excellent manager. Clearly, the players who have worked under him believe and buy into his methods.
And if Marathe and Andrew Cavenagh tell the Ibrox punters that Farke’s the man – they’ll be so seduced by a £100 million takeover, of course they’re going to welcome him with open arms.
Well, yes, they welcomed Barry Ferguson with open arms, of course they’d do the same for Daniel Farke.
I’m just not sure that Daniel Farke would reciprocate the gesture.
Note how the takeover, which I also pointed out in Saturday’s article, has become a £100 million takeover.
Proof positive that McDermott is just a gushing Ibrox fanboy, who lives in a fantasy world, is his assertion that a “chunky transfer kitty” will be supplied on top of the now certain £100 million acquisition cost.
Funnily enough, the article I highlighted in the Record last Saturday completely contradicts that assertion.
And that’s just it.
We are being regaled with bullshit story after bullshit story, predicated on fantasy, supposition, and speculation.
We are told one thing one day.
The next, it’s completely contradicted.
So who in God’s name is to be believed in all of this?
As I write, the consortium are being given a tour of Ibrox, where I’m sure they’ll engage in more “productive conversations”.
The announcement of the takeover, which was due to be announced at the end of May, will now happen “soon”.
One of the pictures in the short article highlighting their visit is titled, “The Louden Tavern? Just down there.”
To which I’m sure Andrew Cavenagh responded, “Well you guys, I’ve got Irish blood in me, do they do a good pint of Guinness down in the Louden? I sure would love to try one!”

Facts and bullshit.
Where Celtic is rooted in reality, this is the fantasy we’re going to be fed about this Ibrox takeover.
Until the reality of what it’s really all about emerges.
Then that’s when all the fantasy gets buried, and that club is dragged kicking and screaming into the real world….
By which time, it’ll all be too late.
These guys will have the keys.
They’ll be in charge.
And the real Raynjurz men will have exited the building!
Fun times ahead…
YouTube: Champions!YouTube: Champions!YouTube: Champions!
We did our Champions podcast last night, and boy, did we have some laughs!
Loving yer work big man, can’t do without the trinity !!!
Gave up on the papers decades ago, seems they’re still printing endless feelgood pish on behalf of the huns. Long may they live in lala land while we prosper in the real world, gaun the ‘tic
I seem to remember the same type of bullshit put out by the media in the early seventies with regard to Celtic. We had investors with deep pockets preparing to finance an ultra modern circular stadium built in (contaminated ground) in Cambuslang. Total crap but it kept the old board going for a bit longer. Boots on the other foot now I think.
The reason the rags are full of Sevco shite is cause they’re fan’s are the only halfwits that buy them……
It’ll be £180m takeover now as the stadium (which will need knocked down and rebuilt from ground up) is to be upgraded to a capacity that seats 1 more than parkhead……
HH
How come they’ve got Rangers experts and Rangers correspondents all over the place but nothing like that for any other clubs
