When you’re looking for the meaning of the gullibillies in the footballing dictionary, after yesterday, you need look no further than Barry Ferguson!
Because based on Ferguson’s outburst during his media conference yesterday, he fell hook, line, and sinker for the rumour they were about to hire rookie, Davide Ancelotti.

There is something deliciously hilarious about that, isn’t there?
Added to that, you’d think that he and Keith Jackson, considering they’re work colleagues, and how buddy buddy they are, would be in constant contact with each other?
You’d think Keith would do him a solid and tell him it’s all pie in the sky, wouldn’t you?
Especially before he went and made a total tit of himself yesterday.
Then again, maybe Keith jackson was only drip fed this info today?
Who knows?
Or there may be more to this than meets the eye, which I’ll flesh out a bit later on.
His article in the Record today looks very much like an exercise in tempering gullibilly expectations.
Somebody told him to quell the steadily rising belief that the new manager was on his way already.
To stop those poor bears from wetting themselves at thoughts of a big name getting the job.
Big in name, but not in management experience, that is.
Sadly, it’s all a bit too late now, both for Bazza and the bears.
Both he and they have already fallen for yesterday’s ruse in the media.
This assumption has now been proven as bullshit by the ever reliable Keith Jackson.
Or has Keith been bullshitted, and has thus set out to prove it’s bullshit?
You never know in the weird and wonderful world of the SMSM.
Have a look at this:
But assumption is also the mother of all failures.
Which is why the men in charge of the process of appointing the next Rangers manager are absolutely correct to proceed with a great deal of caution, even if much trusted media outlets in Spain and Italy have concluded that it’s a done deal already.
The truth is, it’s not done and dusted at all. It’s hardly even started.
What Keith really wants to say is that you should never ASSUME.
Why?
Because it makes an ASS out of U and ME.
Clearly it’s already made an ASS out of Bazza.
Ah well, I guess any modicum of credibility he might have had left, went sailing out the window after yesterday’s car crash of a press conference!
Keith Jackson, in the mean time, is at pains to tell us all that there is a very important process in place at Ibrox.
And that many candidates are being considered for the career ending role of Ibrox manager.
Keith is also trying to convince us that Carlo Ancelotti WANTS his son to get the Ibrox job.
Yes indeed, apparently he reckons the “Godfather of the game” is calling some favours in.
Mafia style.
Although from where, only God knows:
It’s almost as if the great Godfather of the game has asked for a few favours to be called in and for his boy’s name to be given maximum exposure, perhaps in the belief that Rangers will be left to feel this is an offer they’d be mad to turn down.
When the truth of the matter is, this is an appointment which would carry such an enormous risk factor that they would be insane to be brow beaten into going through with it unless they conclude that a 35-year-old with no previous managerial CV of his own, is by far and away their best available option.
Believe me, if he’s intent on choosing a starting role for his son, there are much more less stress options out there than a job at that basket case of a club.
Not to mind all the garbage that comes with it.
When Keith Jackson talks about a risk factor, he’s right to a degree, but for Davide Ancelotti, it WOULD be an enormous risk.
It would kill his budding managerial career before it’s even begun.
As I alluded to in yesterday’s article on this very subject.
But I had to laugh at Keith’s idea that Ancelotti Jnr. is trying to “strong arm his way into the position on the back of his father’s reputation.”
The idea that Davide Ancelotti is desperate for this job is laughable.
But Keith said it nonetheless, so here it is:
And this coordinated Ancelotti cake walk may actually have caused some embarrassment inside the boardroom at Ibrox, especially if there are other names on the list whose credentials are still to be examined and who have reason to expect to be invited in for a chat.
If they suspect Ancelotti is deliberately manipulating and exploiting their interest – or attempting to strong arm his way into the position on the back of his father’s reputation – then they may already have cause to consider if a lack of experience has clouded his better judgement.
And that would add another layer of jeopardy to the whole decision-making process.
Any coordination engineered by Carlo Ancelotti and his son has to be a figment of Keith Jackson’s imagination by my reckoning.
I sincerely doubt that Davide Ancelotti is THAT desperate for the Ibrox job.

But someone managed to convince Barry Ferguson that he was.
Not only did they manage to do that, they made him believe that a rookie was going to be chosen over him for the job.
Now, who could possibly have done that?
What mole within the walls of Ibrox bent his ear, and caused him to come out with the drivel he did yesterday?
There’s no smoke without fire and all that.
I get the feeling there is a bit of truth in all of this, but Jackson has been used as a mouthpiece to be a little economical with that truth.
In other words, he’s been told to tell the story that it’s the Ancelotti’s who are desperate for the role to become Davide’s.
Not the other way around.
Then when Barry Fergsuon comes banging on Paddy Stewart’s door, it’ll be case of, “Oh but Barry, it’s not us! We haven’t initiated any contact with them, it’s the other way around. You’ve got this all wrong! We’d never disrespect you like that!”
Keith would have been approached with a wink and a nod to help calm his old Daily Record buddy down.
Think about it.
How farcical does it sound that Carlo Ancelotti would be pushing for his son to become the Ibrox manager?
He’s not that stupid.
Davide is not that stupid.
But Keith Jackson’s target audience is very stupid.
And very gullible.
Job done….
Aye nae chance Carlo would do that to his boy.
Here son Scottish Highlands on a cold wet Wednesday night or Brazilian beach party.
I think that Barry Ferguson should be the new gers manager as jist look wit he has dun rangers were no were but he told them play for wits on ur back or fuck off that wit jock Stein did at Celtic and jock wallace did at rangers give him a chance
What odds do we get that Barry is manager for first Euro play off tie with freeby shankland mulligan cameron and only one new random galactico in situ together with the rest of the existing band ?
zombie fc statement next week we looked far and wide for flip flops successor fuck even carlo brought his boy in but in the end we decided wee benny fergushun was the man fur the joab on accounty him being daft enough to take it and being as cheap as chips ……………………………nostradamus cfc
