Silent Mike and the Board are….SILENT, as Glasgow City Council set Celtic fans up for bad press, arrests and public disorder

This morning, James did a comprehensive piece over on The Celtic Blog on how Glasgow City Council had failed Celtic fans.
In it, he came up with plenty of plausible suggestions as to how Celtic fans could be facilitated to celebrate this title win without too much difficulty.
The reality here is that GCC has chosen to make what was a pretty straightforward event into a very difficult event for everyone involved, themselves included.
However, at this point, you have to wonder if there isn’t an element of malicious intent in all of this.
I’m beginning to think that the Celtic fans are being set up for bad press, arrests and public disorder.
This is a perfect opportunity for GCC to paint Celtic fans in the same light as Ibrox fans.
A sort of leveling of the playing field, if you will, when it comes to what happened in George’s Square 4 years ago.
Except that the fundamental difference in all of this is that they allowed the Ibrox fans to trash the city and break the law back then.
What they are doing now is setting the Celtic fans up for a fall.
And they know that’s what they’re doing.
This is a blatant act of provocation.
Because they have done nothing whatsoever to discourage the planned Orange March and the kind of gathering that will inevitably coincide with this.
Nor have they done anything to discourage this march from going through tradional Celtic areas like the Trongate and Merchant City.
They have instead asked Celtic fans not to gather in areas they would always traditionally gather in.
And have done for the last few title winning celebrations since 2022.
This whole thing stinks to high heaven!
And the people who have come up with the plan of action for this, or lack thereof?
Well, I don’t think you’d have to be a genius to figure out their political or religious leanings somehow.
This is why I think there is malicious intent in this whole situation.
However, what is getting on my goat even more is the lack of a reaction from our beloved board and Silent Mike.
Ironically, and true to form, one day before this event is due to happen, they have chosen to do what they do best.
Remain silent.
This was, and I say was because it’s too late to do anything now, a perfect opportunity for them as the representatives of our club to approach Glasgow City Council and work out a solution in all of this.
The people who’s reputation is inevitably going end up tarnished in all of this is that of the Celtic fans.
Which by extension could damage the reputation of the club this board are meant to be custodians of.
If they actually cared about this, they’d have done something about it.
After all, the Celtic fans are the customer base of Glasgow Celtic.
They are the lifeblood of the club.
And they are effectively being told they cannot celebrate our title win in areas they have always celebrated title wins in.
Just so a Halloween fancy dress party, filled with obese and braindead bigots, banging drums like lunatics, can go ahead instead.
Just so these neanderthals can taunt and goad Celtic fans, knowing full well they’ll get a reaction if they do.
Silent Mike and his cronies are happy to allow this to happen.
Oh, I’m sure they’ll have a statement at the ready when it’s all done and dusted, and our fanbase has been pilloried and ridiculed by a gleeful media.
By which time it’ll all be too late.
The damage they could have tried to prevent will be done at that point.
We all know if the shoe was on the other foot, the Ibrox support would be allowed to run riot in the city.
And we sure as hell wouldn’t be permitted to have a parade celebrating our Irish heritage march through them either.
Our board really is gutless.
And they are one and the same as those in charge of Glasgow City Council due to the fact they have chosen to do nothing when it comes to this whole fiasco.
Celtic fans deserve better than than from the club.
Our undying loyalty to the club deserves better than that.
We deserve better than Silent Mike.

It’s a set up, deny the celtic fans their day in their part of the city, allow a loyalist supremacist March the freedom of that same area to spout their venom and hate, you would think somebody somewhere is hoping for trouble!
Violence on Saturday is exactly what GCC is counting on.It will then give them a mandate for banning all large gatherings in or around these areas in perpetuity ,scum sorted.Thats how they see us and treat us but we do nothing so they get a free pass laughing up their sleeves at us.
You surely didn’t think the board would say or do anything to help the fans?
Of course GCC want trouble so they can ban all marches from here on in but what if the Celtic fans, instead of reacting to Hun taunts, all give them a rousing chorus of ‘We’re Simply The Best’ to see them on their way?
…and yet, some Celtic supporters continue to vote for political parties on GCC, and their councillors, who allow these Orange bastards to march. Send them a message at the next council elections.

Totally agree with the whole article but we cannot keep criticising the board. We all know what they are like but the fans will not do anything about it. They buy the merchandise, sell out season tickets, cup tie tickets, CL packages. If fans don’t vote with their wallet and feet it is pointless to keep going on about it. It would be embarrassing for them if the £25 friendly against Newcastle had an empty stadium but it will never happen
One would think that after our previous league wins, The Club and GCC would have come up with a solution to the fans Celebrations! Don’t blame the SNP – yes they run the Council – but there are a few or some within who don’t like Celtic – who in their right mind would allow an Orange Walk to take part knowing that Celtic would be celebrating winning The League (planning ahead taken into account). So get organised for next year GCC!!!
