Peak insanity from the Record, as they roar that the next Ibrox manager will be given ‘every penny’ from the Takeover to challenge Celtic

Now that the League season is officially over, and Celtic could wrap up the treble next Saturday, it’s time to soothe the bears with moonbeams and feel good stories.

But there’s a line that shouldn’t be crossed…

The line where you go from selling moonbeams to complete all out insanity.

I never tire from saying the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

This is why today, the Record has hit peak insanity.

Because they’ve been selling the same story over and over again.

And this is despite knowing that what they’re selling is a virtual impossibility.

They seem to think if they keep selling it, the outcome will eventually turn out to be exactly what they want.

And here’s why, have a look at this headline from Graeme Young in this morning’s Record:

R*****s next manager will get ‘every penny’ from takeover chiefs as zealous 49ers make boss a dream guarantee.

Now, I have no doubt that every bear who is miserable this morning at the thoughts of Celtic securing another treble will be greatly heartened by that headline.

In fact, it’s probably all they’ll read, and not bother with the rest.

Because that would mean understanding what you don’t want to understand.

The headline intimates that the next Ibrox manager will get ‘every penny’ the zealous 49ers chiefs intend putting into the Ibrox side to spend on players.

Thus putting them in a position to challenge Celtic again.

This is supplemented with the news that Stevie G is ‘closing in on the Ibrox job.

Along with Davide Ancelotti being back in the running as well.

Even after Keith Jackson had dismissed it out of hand last week.

Fantastic news all round for us Celtic fans, especially if it’s Stevie G.

Now, you would think that we’d be crapping our pants at the thoughts of the next manager getting a huge transfer kitty to challenge us, wouldn’t you?

However, it appears Graeme Young is indeed a bit of spoofer.

Why, you ask, is he a spoofer?

Young is saying that just because Paraag Marathe has committed to giving ‘every penny’ to Daniel Farke at Leeds for his assault on the EPL, then by default, he’s going to do the same for the next Ibrox manager.

In fact, the whole story is about what Marathe has committed to do for his new favourite manager, Daniel Farke.

Well firstly, he can talk about about that kind of commitment because the EPL is awash with money.

Leeds will have earned millions in TV revenue as a result of their promotion to the ‘richest league in the world’.

It’s easy for him to say that Farke will get ‘every penny’ when there’s a hell of a lot more to go around when it comes to the EPL.

One slightly relevant point that Young also neglected to include is that Leeds are not in the midst of a takeover like the Ibrox side, or any of the related costs that accompany one.

And of course, that they got to the EPL by spending less than Celtic did in last summer’s transfer window.

Another thing Young is choosing to omit is those pesky UEFA FSR rules.

He seems to think that the Ibrox side are exempt from such irrelevant inconveniences.

In fact, the whole headline in that article is absolute bullshit.

In reality, it has nothing at all to do with the Ibrox side.

Its all focused on what Paraag Marathe is going to do at Leeds.

But it’s clear it was designed to soothe the suffering of bears with another Celtic treble almost imminent.

Let’s be clear here, the next Ibrox manager will not be handed ‘every penny’ from the takeover.

No matter how zealous the 49ers takeover chiefs are.

In fact, this whole story focuses on Daniel Farke, what he has achieved at Leeds, and what Marathe is going to give him as a result of said achievements.

It has nothing at all to do with Ibrox.

Other than Young thinks Marathe is going to give the same commitment to the next Ibrox manager as he is to Daniel Farke.

Which in reality, is pure fantasy.

Then again, when you have a fanbase that lives on fantasy, they would lap this kind of stuff up, wouldn’t they?

You know?

The same way they believe they should be challenging Celtic.

Along with the fantasy that they’re the same club that challenged us before 2012.

Once this takeover happens, however, I think they might be in for a rude awakening.

At the risk of repeating myself, even for Graeme Young, these guys are investors.

The definition of investment is the action or process of investing money for a profit.

Profit, being the operative word.

The Ibrox club has not turned a profit since it’s inception in 2012.

These guys aren’t coming along to continue throwing money into a black hole.

They are coming to make the club profitable.

In order to do that, they must first implement austerity.

Believe me, there will be quite a lot of austerity before the spending starts.

If Scotland had a functional and honest fourth estate, then maybe the Ibrox fans might be fed the inconvenient truth.

But Scotland doesn’t have a functional fourth estate.

So the Gullibillies will continue to be fed moonbeams, feel good stories, and insanity.

Because the idea that ‘every penny’ will be given to the next Ibrox manager is exactly that.

Insanity.
