Oh well, there goes the Davide Ancelotti to Ibrox distraction, with news now circulating that Deportivo la Coruna have declared their interest in the son of Carlo.
If Ancelotti is a smart man, which I’m sure he is, he’d choose La Liga 2 over the Scottish Premiership any day.
I’d imagine that he has to weigh up which is the bigger challenge.
Deportivo finished 15th in last season’s La Liga 2 table.
Not a great finish for them, but it would represent an interesting challenge for Ancelotti.
His remit would obviously be to push for promotion.
That could prove extremely tempting, because if he did manage to get Depor promoted, then it would give him the opportunity to pit his wits against his former club, Real Madrid.
If Deportivo’s interest is serious, then it’s likely that he’d strongly consider it.
As a rookie manager looking to step out from under his father’s shadow, it looks like the perfect opportunity for Ancelotti.
He would not be facing the kind of pressure he would face in Scotland, where he’d be expected to deliver a treble at Ibrox in his first season.
Obviously, trying to secure promotion comes with it’s own pressures, but it’s definitely a role Ancelotti may find himself more suited to.
If I was a betting man, and this interest from Deportivo la Coruna is serious, I’d bet on him going to the Riazor.
Which leaves just one other candidate for the Ibrox job by default.
Russell Martin.
Now, it’s highly unlikely there’s any veracity in the Marco Rose or Jesse Marsch rumours, so Martin now becomes the most likely candidate.
I would imagine he represents the least bling for the Ibrox support, especially in comparison to Ancelotti.

Whose name has had the gullibillies drooling, rather than his ability.
Martin has been out of work since December last year.
He received the sack from Southampton, with the club bottom of the EPL, securing just one win in sixteen.
Southampton never recovered from that, and were relegated from the EPL.
They became the first team in Premier League history to be relegated with as many as seven games of the season remaining.
This was following their 3-1 defeat at Tottenham on April 6th, their 25th league defeat.
Not exactly a stellar record for Martin, is it?
Will the Ibrox support really want to settle for this guy?
And would he even be capable of stopping the Celtic juggernaut?

As things currently stand, the Ibrox side and their consortium, which finally completed their much heralded takeover yesterday (more on that later), are running out of options.
Which begs the question, does anybody really want the role?
Most sensible managers out there know that it’s a poisoned chalice.
Joe said jokingly on the podcast last night that David Martindale would get the job.
The way things are going, the likelihood is that he might eventually be the only option available to them.
Gerrard declared himself out of the running yesterday, citing the fact that his wife wasn’t willing to give up the luxurious life in Bahrain to which she’s accustomed to.
The short list is getting shorter.
Davy Martindale or Russell Martin?
Best takeover ever.
Is that shite I smell💙
To be fair, you claimed for weeks that the takeover was a hoax and wouldn’t happen
That’s probably the stench coming aff your new Sevco tap, mate. Enjoy being simply 2nd best. The Yanks are gonna take the 2nd Ibrox club for everything. You thought that Craig Whyte was bad for Sevco. You ain’t seen nothing yet. It’s quite ironic that the pretendy 49ers have taken over the pretendy Gers…is it not?
Hail Hail.
On the 31st of May 1967, Bayern Munich beat the Rangers 1-0, in the final of the European Cup Winners Cup. This finished off a fantastic week for Celtic supporters everywhere.
Hail Hail.
Russell Martin. Relegation with Southampton. The right man to take the Glasgow 13rs forward.(13 being their age).
That will be them going for their second trophy as UEFA confirmed them as a new club and they had to re-apply to play in UEFA competitions. SPFL and SFA should not have allowed them to call themselves the same club.
You mean the Buddhist vegan Green Party member Russell Martin, Eric?!
To go with Padraig Marathe, aka, Pat Mah Rat, and all the Fenian 49ers?!
After Green & Whyte killed their old club tae?!
Surely the Huns don’t know about all this or there’ll be a riot!
😁😁😁
Celtic page, not a mention of yer own team, except can they stop the celtic juggernaut, (same celtic who have not beaten rangers in the last 3 attempts btw) let the rebuild start and in 3 years there should be diference. Now rangers will be properly run for the first time in decades and thats what counts not the next manager. Thats a few seasons away, i’ll expect rangers to challenge for the league in 2 years and win it in 3.
The pedos from Stad De Secrets know everything except crime against young boys .please let us know who it is as you got the Fakeover wrong clowns you lot
Neely and Dunn. Just two of the Ibrox paedo ring.
The same predictable obsessed nonsense yous talk all the time. Go focus on celtic and enjoy your title win. The fear is dripping out of your articles. It will be Ancelotti and you’re clearing hoping it isn’t but a wee slip of “he has no experience” in there just to cover yourself. We can read through everything you write in your pathetic biased articles. You’ll twist everything in a negative light towards Rangers due to your obsession. And this “ibrox” patter is hilariously cringe. And what happened to the takeover how are you going to twist that one now that’s backfired like everything else you ever write. Let me guess. Using words like “heralded takeover”. Can see right through your nonsense. In a season where you successfully managed to beat the dross in the league and could barely win an old firm game and failure to win a treble which you should have been winning, you should be writing about that not “Ibrox”. Rangers are skint refs are masons Rangers are deed. Yawn😂 you and James for rest. You lot all have the same personality.
What happened to the “fakeover” I meant
After reading some of this mince on hear I would like my tupence added.
Give Rangers a couple of seasons and the new oweners find that this club
and massive following will need a good transfer kitty. this club is not Leeds United and is a diferent entity, but world wide support, and will all come good in time
Tbh it’s great for Scottish football and that rangers are going to be invested to make a challenge to celtic..but you have to remember celtic have millions in the bank and will raise the bar paying 10million for a player is chicken feed for Desmond dermot while rangers and all their debt are only getting 20million..its gonna take years for rangers to win a title against the finances that celtic have.
What the peepul fail to grasp, is that Celtic have 10,000 more seats than the Ibrox mob. Celtic also have a genuine worldwide support. The biggest advantage that Celtic have got? EUFA FSR rules. That’s right, lurking Huns. Rules. What a shocker. You’ll have to live within your means. No more spending other people’s money, as Sir David Murray did, using his Masonic connections to bent bankers. No more tax dodges utilising EBTs, that killed the original Ibrox club stone dead. No more confetti shares to keep the lights on.
The pretendy49ers and the Leeds guy, are not sugar daddies, that will throw good money after bad. They want a substantial return on their investment. If this happens, they will pocket the dosh for themselves. If it does not happen, they will piss off elsewhere. Magic, innit?
Hail Hail.
The Bears are back. Mark ma words. Normal service will soon be resumed.
WATP
If it makes it a better more competitive season then surely that can only be a good thing. Celtic are strong and will be even more motivated now. Time for everyone to get real. Scottish football is crap. Livingston are back up.
So what you are hoping to happen is that your manager can work a miracle, that is to win with a inferior budget, because of the UEFA financial rules that is the task he will face, like boxing with one hand tied behind his back
