Jamie Vardy and a little known Ligue 2 player? Celtic have lots to worry about if these are the kinds of players the Ibrox side are interested in

A couple of weeks back, I wrote an article about Jamie Vardy and the possibility of him joining the Ibrox side.

In it, I said that if he came to Scotland, then why wouldn’t he choose Celtic if the option was there?

Now, obviously since the Americans have taken over at Ibrox, everybody is going to want to play with them.

So it stands to reason that Jamie Vardy would choose there instead of Celtic Park.

Now that the takeover is complete, there’s no doubt all sorts of superstars will want to play there.

Or at least you’d think that would be the case?

Well, so far, the big spenders have been linked with Jamie Vardy, and a little known Ligue 2 player.

Scary stuff.

Metinho is the latest superstar on the up and up to be linked to the Ibrox side.

He plays for Troyes in Ligue 2.

Contrary to his name sounding Brazilian, he is actually Congolese, but holds Brazilian citizenship as well.

Hence the name Metinho.

His real name is Abemly Meto Silu.

He’s 22 years old and has been sent out on loan to the likes Lommel, Sparta Rotterdam, and Basel.

Now apparently, we’re told the interest in this player was there before Kevin Thelwell took up his post at Ibrox.

So the question now is, is Thelwell actually interested in this player?

And if he is, will the Ibrox club be starting to employ a strategy of buying young and cheap, and then selling on for profit?

Just like Celtic has employed over the majority of this century.

But we’ve been a hell of a lot more successful than anyone else at this.

At Ibrox, they’ve been desperate to emulate this strategy.

One thing is clear, and we can definitely attest to this at Celtic, it’s not always a strategy that works.

For every ten young players you bring in, you might find one gem amongst them.

If this is a strategy the Ibrox side wishes to employ, then it’s going to take a while for it to become successful.

And because their fans want a treble won yesterday, time isn’t exactly something they’ll be afforded by the fanbase.

Not that these guys will really care.

You see, this is the thing, they have zero emotional ties with the Ibrox side.

Obviously they will be there to win trophies, but they are most likely intent on employing a sustainable strategy to build towards that.

The Ibrox fanbase is expecting a spending splurge this summer, but they may be disappointed on that front.

They may be a tad disappointed at the pace of the business that happens this summer.

The fact that Jamie Vardy and a little known Congolese Brazilian starlet are the early frontrunners, may be a sign of things to come.

The Yanks have just ploughed £100 million into the club for the keys.

And of course, they’ve pledged another £20 million warchest to the new manager.

Or so we’re told by the usual reliable SMSM sources.

Hmmm?

I wonder what UEFA’s FSR team will have to say about that?

They haven’t gone away, you know?

Very worrying times for us Celtic fans though.

As you can imagine, we’re bricking it.

They’re really coming this time!
