Why would Celtic be willing to pay Girona £5million for Bojan Miovski, yet they wouldn’t pay Aberdeen that kind of money for him?

There’s a story doing the rounds in the Record today stating that Celtic are interested in signing Bojan Miovski.

Mark Pirie has written the story, but not a lot of what’s contained in it makes much sense.

Realistically, the only thing he reveals in the story is what Celtic will have to play for the Macedonian striker.

There is no concrete evidence in the story that states Celtic ARE actually interested in buying Miovski.

Now, before Miovski left to join Girona, I was always an advocate for signing him.

He was prolific for Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership, so he definitely could have done a job for Celtic.

However, as is always the case with Celtic and the purchase of players from fellow Scottish clubs, our board most likely baulked at the asking price Aberdeen was looking for.

Either that, or we just didn’t feel Miovski was good enough to play for us.

Which is why today’s story in the Record makes no sense.

If we weren’t willing to pay the price Aberdeen set last year, then why would we be willing to pay it now?

Especially considering what a poor season Miovski had at Girona in La Liga.

He only managed two goals in the entire campaign.

Yet were now supposed to be interested in signing him for a fee similar to what Aberdeen were demanding when they put him on the market?

This makes no logical sense.

If we wouldn’t pay that kind of money for him to Aberdeen, what makes Mark Pirie think we’d pay it to Girona?

Only he can answer that because as his story unravels, you can see its all pie in the sky.

Personally, I believe Miovski could still do a job for us.

He knows our league pretty well.

And he scored plenty of goals for a run of the mill Aberdeen side.

Put him in a Celtic side with quality all around him, and the chances are he’s be pretty prolific again in Scotland.

However, I’m also a realist, and I know there’s no way our board would be willing to pay £5million for Miovski.

Which is why this story makes no sense to me.

I sincerely doubt that Celtic have declared any interest in Bojan Miovski.

Its unlikely you’ll see this story developing any further.

And I believe Girona will probably struggle to sell Miovski due to his poor return there.

If Brendan Rodgers was interested in bringing him to Celtic, that is something he’d look at very closely.

Maybe I’m wrong?

Maybe Rodgers thinks Miovski could do a job for us?

But in reality, there’s no concrete evidence out there to suggest this is the case.

In fact, Mark Pirie has pulled his story out of thin air.

If you read the article he supplies a link to on the AS website, there are no references to the info Pirie has given in his article.

He said Celtic were namechecked by AS as an interested party, they are not.

Read the article and you’ll see for yourself.

Pirie also said Girona paid £6.8 million for Miovski.

AS states they paid €5 million (£4.3 million).

Finally, Pirie states Miovski is valued at £5 million.

AS contradicts that completely, saying he is only valued €3 million (£2.3 million).

I know which media outlet I’d be inclined to trust.

And it isn’t the one based in Scotland which is renowned for making up stories.

Needless to say, Bojan Miovski is unlikely to end up at Celtic.

Even if the price is just £2.3 million.

Simply because there is no foundation whatsoever in this story.

Its a total fabrication.
