Over on the Celtic blog earlier today, James released a pretty damning article about the recent acquisition of the Ibrox club by the American consortium.

I highly recommend reading it via the link provided.

Because it tells the real story of the sleight of hand the Americans have pulled off right under the noses of the Ibrox support.

It is, in fact, a cautionary tale for all clubs out there when it comes to how easily control of a club can be relinquished.

The other day, I wrote an article discussing the fact that the Americans see what Celtic is.

And that they want a piece of it.

By that, I mean that serious businessmen are looking at Celtic, and they see an entirely self-sustainable club in a relatively small league generating tens of millions of pounds annually.

Andrew Cavenagh – for example – made his money in health insurance.

Now, by it’s very nature, insurance is a pretty risky business.

So, those involved in it have to be pretty shrewd in the way that they operate.

Therefore Cavenagh, by nature, would be a shrewd operator himself.

For someone like him, his business is all about profit.

And that’s exactly how he sees Ibrox, and he wants Ibrox to be performing like Celtic does.

He sees it as a business where he can make a profit, but he also knows that as a result of the way this business has operated for the last 13 years, it’s going to take a bit of time and hard work to make it profitable.

He and his fellow investors do not want to be scrutinised in the way that they do business.

This is clear by what they did last Monday.

James has highlighted this in his article earlier on.

In it he stated that Sir Brian Donohoe, a prominent Ibrox shareholder, raised serious concerns about the club’s new Articles of association.

Donohoe did not like what he saw in those Articles of association, and he brought this up with the new owners last Monday.

Despite a detailed response from Andrew Cavenagh, Donohoe was not happy with what he heard.

He was not in any way reassured by what he heard.

His biggest concern is that the Articles of association lock out shareholders.

And it’s a legitimate concern.

But the alarming thing here is that the majority of the media has chosen to turn a blind eye to all of this.

Except, as James has highlighted, Matthew Lindsay in The Herald.

The big question here, though, is why has one Scottish title chosen to break ranks from all of the others?

Obviously, Matthew Lindsay felt that Brian Donohoe’s concerns were worth highlighting.

But will anybody else in the SMSM follow suit?

Keith Jackson, was just yesterday painting a picture that all was going to be fine and dandy over at Ibrox with this headline:

Remember the last time they took the handbrake off and enjoyed the ride?

Craig Whyte went on a joyride which drove their club into the grave.

Now, I’m not saying the new owners have the same kind of malign intent that Whyte had.

Which was to ultimately drive the old club into the ground, and then start again.

The Americans want to do the opposite.

But they do not want anyone interfering with the way that they do it.

The new Articles of association confer all power to Cavenagh and his cabal of investors to handle their business, behind closed doors, however they see fit.

What the fans do or say won’t matter a jot.

It’ll be a case of put up, and shut up.

What is even more insane, and also points to the ineptitude and ineffectiveness of the SMSM, is the fact they are desperately trying to trumpet the sale of the club’s two main strikers.

Four weeks before a Champions League qualifier is due to be played!

A functioning fourth estate would be asking hard questions at this point.

They would want to know what the hell the club was playing at selling two strikers who provided 41 goals between them last season at Ibrox?

Instead the media are doing their utmost to flog these guys for the club!

You couldn’t make this shit up.

If Igamane and Dessers are gone by the time that qualifier comes around, are their replacements, if there even are any, going to be bedded into the squad and ready to play Panathinaikos?

The answer to that is pretty self explanatory.

And the only striker being discussed in the media is 21 year old Dor David Turgeman, an Israeli striker, who has never played outside Israel.

Turgeman has 29 goals in 109 appearances in Israeli football.

Panathinaikos would eat this kid for breakfast.

Thus far, the club has managed to land Lyall Cameron and Max Aarons.

Hardly the blockbusting signings the fans thought they’d be getting when the 49ers splashed out the millions, are they?

Up to this point, the entire media, outwith Matthew Lindsay, has been focused on the £20 million the Americans used to dupe the entire Ibrox fanbase into handing their club over to them.

Now, they will have to endure the consequences of having done so so meekly.

As for Cavenagh, who I alluded to earlier in relation to his insurance business, just how big a player is this guy?

Well, he’s the CEO of Patreo Health, who are a health insurance consultancy firm.

Before he worked in that field, he worked the in the, wait for it……commercial banking sector.

An industry which is all about screwing the customer, and maximum profits.

He lives in a relatively modest home by American standards, worth $2.4 million dollars.

Considering the current cost of property in the States right now, that’s not a crazy number.

The average cost of buying a house in America is now $503,800.

As CEO of Patreo Health, he earns a salary of $850,000.

Similar to what silent Mike earns at Celtic as CEO.

Now, obviously he earns performance related bonuses and no doubt he has stock options as well.

Patreo Health has a turnover of about $140 million a year.

With 280 staff, you could estimate that their actual bottom line would generate somewhere between $8 and $9 million per annum.

Which I’m sure Cavenagh gets a decent chunk of, maybe 10% to 15%?

So, let’s just say his annual income levels out at somewhere between $2 million to $2.5 million.

Doesn’t exactly make Cavenagh a Sugar Daddy, does it?

He’s a front man.

Pure and simple.

You see where I’m going with this?

He, and Paraag Marathe – who represents the 49ers interest – are the faces of the faceless.

Who will now remain faceless, because the Articles of association now in place will ensure they are faceless.

It’s beginning to dawn on a few Ibrox shareholders that the Americans might just have stolen their club right from under their noses.

In fact, Brian Donohoe knows it was stolen from under his nose.

And as a result, you can be sure there is a faction of shareholders forming already to rebel against all of this.

But its too little, too late.

There’s nothing they can do.

I’m probably being disingenuous by saying the Americans stole the club, though.

They didn’t, they paid enough for it, so they feel every facet of it is rightfully theirs now.

The Articles of association just signed sealed and delivered that.

But they have stolen the right of the average Ibrox fan to have any meaningful say in the direction of their club.

Did you ever imagine as a Celtic fan that you’d see the day where a Catholic Irish-American and an Indian would be in charge of the Ibrox club?

More to the point, did the Ibrox fans ever imagine they’d see that day?

Well, that day is here, and these guys are calling the shots.

Aindréas O’Caomhánaigh is now in control at Ibrox.

The unseen Fenian hand is at last victorious!

Whoops, I’d better shut up!

Or Peter Lawwell will want to form an even stronger alliance in order to fully resurrect O** F*** Inc.!

Just kidding.

But it’s no joke that the Ibrox club has been sold out from under the loyal peepul.
