  1. The only thing that will make celtic fans shit themselves is know the board have their greedy eyes on the 100 million plus in the bank , they intend to give themselves an enormous dividend as share holders and as a result we can kiss good bye to the champions league and Maeda will be off then inevitably Brendan will leave . That’s what we should shitting ourselves about

  2. thanks for below, I’m still laughing about it after finishing the article

And of course, the old club died a ‘World class’ death, didn’t it?

  3. Only shareholders with Preferrence shares (of which DD has 8million) get a dividen.

It is fixed at 3.6p per annum.

For the 2024 ACCOUNTING PERIOD THE PAYOUT WAS LESS THAN £500,000.

If they are money making they could get more interest in a current account.

  4. Note – the only way individuals can take the cash reserves out as dividens is to buy others shareholdings and change the articles of the plc with an EGM.

  5. Lastly, back to the cash earning interest.

For the year to June 30th 2024, Celtic plc earned £4.7m in interest.

Enough to pay for all the academy + the Lennoxtown refurb + our electricity bills.

Very wrong to say it is doing nothing, even worse to suggest having cash should be avoided because you have to pay tax on the PROFITS. Working capital is the best possible for a business that does not pay dividens.

  6. and definately the last point.

Celtic spending on infrastructure over the last 2 and upcoming year will be around £20m, it is all in the accounts and the forecasts.

While paying tax on profits attract corporation tax, £4,4m last cycle, there is also Capital Allowance offsets we can use against spening on projects or on the event we make a loss, our allowance to be used when we need to stands at £8.6m in the last accounts.

I personally find it a head scratcher, that left wing individuals call for a company to spend money just to avoid paying taxes, deplorable.

  7. Saint Stivs is obviously a board apologist, I’ve said before and I’ll say it again what’s the point in having £100 million in the bank if the product on the park is not the best it can be. We’re light in positions all over the park but as long as the bank balance is healthy, our support aren’t expecting the club to spend every penny just make sure the team is in the best state possible for the season ahead.

  8. Stivs is on CQN almost daily.
Hes a Lawwellite, and along with his regular sidekicks, he will stick up for the board bindly.

  9. @Saint stivs.
I’d like to take you up on your last point,if I may.
Celtic Football Club was formed to raise money for the poor and hungry in the east end of Glasgow NOT for swelling the bank accounts of billionaires and millionaires, and certainly NOT as a fund raising machine for paying taxes into the exchequer.
Perhaps, the fat parasite Lawwell and his corpulent corporate cronies feel they must reimburse HMRC the monies it lost when their beloved Old Firm partner went to it’s grave as a sign of good faith.
Also,in my view, perhaps you should change your moniker to Saint Spivs thus keeping it in line with the wankers whose cocks you never have out of your servile mouth !

  10. Hello Saint Stivs.

Could you itemise the operating expenses for us?

They seem to rise to extortionate heights when the going’s good, £105 million in the last accounts iirc, and no one seems able to either stop it nor even wants to stop it.

I only ask because in any other company such a glaring inability to rein them in would see heads roll and it’s clear that you know your finances but I cannot find such itemisation anywhere in the Celtic PLC accounts.

    Thanks in advance,

    Fergus.

  11. It dosent matter a jot how much we do or don’t have to spend or not spend as a supporter I go to watch my team play and I just hope like last season I am happy how my team has performed!

  12. Sevco think they are getting the next Allison Becker – that’ll be Boris’s wee sister?? I wonder if, like me, when they read the name Pierce Charles they mistook it for Prince Charles. Lol

  13. St sivs – got your FACTS wrong. Go read the accounts again or go on any share dealing website – the Prefs are called ‘6% cumulative Prefs’. The clue to the coupon is in the title – 6%. Not 3.6%. Biggest pref holder? DD. Does he take the option of taking his dividends in ordinary shares like almost all other Prefs holders? Course the old tosspot doesn’t – he takes them in cash, so our billionaire sugar daddy actually takes hundreds of thousands of pounds OUT the club every year.

  14. Jamie G – you are correct. It is 6p per share.

    Thanks for correcting me.

DD has 8 million of them resulting in that £480,000 dividen payment.

  15. Fergus,

offcourse I cannot itemise the £105m operating expenses.

Simply though it it the cost of doing everything, £60m in wages for a start.

Would you like a programme of cost-cutting or austerity ?

  16. I am neither a board apologist or a Lawwell supporter.

I am mearly a retiree from a corporate company who worked in finance.

Debunking the myths memes about our accounts is easy.

Monies are not being hidden, the bank balance does not benefit anyone individually, it is not being syphoned off, and it does earn us more monies.

If you as a person pays tax, through employmentt, why would you want celtic to avoid paying tax ?

And leave the homo-erotic disgusting name calling to others please, Grow up.

  17. Thanks for your reply, St, however you claim ‘ Monies are not being hidden’ but I would be forced to argue that monetise ARE being hidden, since the operating expenses are not and never have been itemised in the accounts.

So if we can’t see where all that money is going then there is no other way to describe it than it IS being hidden.

And the real question is, if this is an honest operation, why are they hiding it?

  18. Fergus Isle
    says:

the audited accounts will have every line item of income and expense.

I dont know how else to tell you.

  19. Off course Auditors are a true bastion of probity and accuracy, NOT.
Refer to the multi million fines handed out by the FCA Watchdog annually to offending Accountancy Companies.
Refer to the Liquidation’s of numerous Companies across all Sectors of the Economy brought on by Auditor complicity in rigging the books.
Don’t need to look further than South of the River for a cautionary example of lack of regulatory oversight.

  20. StStivs, what you’re saying is the operating expenses are itemised in the accounts but you can’t itemise them?

I’m asking you because you’re the finance man while I am not.

So are the operating expenses itemised in the accounts or not?

For I simply cannot see where they are and I’ve been checking every year.

And, if they are not being individually itemised, with each penny publicly accounted for, then why not?

    It’s a simple question.

    Thanks,

    Fergus
