Correct me if I’m wrong here, but the Boston Celtics are a basketball team, who ply their trade in the NBA in the United States, aren’t they?
Now, basketball, for those hard of understanding, is not sacker (American terminology for football).
Its a completely different game.
The players are allowed to handle the ball, and there are 5 players on each team.
So, it should make no difference, to anyone whatsoever, if a prospective signing showed up to transfer talks with a view to joining the Ibrox team in a Boston Celtics jersey, should it?
Especially when at that time, he was still a Sheffield Wednesday player.
Well, apparently it makes news headlines in the world of Ibrox and in our favourite rag to hate, the Sun.
Now, we all know the kind of aversion they have to anything of the green variety over Ibrox way.
Bomber Brown is always happy to regale people with tales of his hatred of green jelly.
And how he was once subjected to such an abomination at a charity event.
He ‘politely’ refused to partake in said abomination, in the gentle and subtle way he’s known to communicate.
Then we had the story of Pedro Caixinha losing the plot when Barrie McKay had the misfortune to wear green boots while playing under the Portuguese James Bond.

There was even suggestions after that criminal offence that the Ibrox pitch should be spraypainted fluorescent blue.
I mean, to be fair, it must kill most Ibrox players, especially any local boys, to set foot on a green pitch?
Especially with their self-inflicted allergy to anything green.
Well, Djeidi Gassama went one better and potentially ended his Ibrox career before it even begins.
He had the audacity to show up to transfer talks in a Boston Celtics jersey.
Yes, shock of shocks, you read that right!
I mean, how could he?
Did he not know that anything green causes anybody of an Ibrox affiliation to froth at the mouth?
Was he unaware that his crass actions would generate news headlines?
I mean, how stupid can you be?
If you are potentially going to sign for a club that displays such idiosyncrasies, then the least you should do is your basic homework on them.
Distraught Gassama now wishes he could turn back the clock and un-wear his Boston Celtics jersey to his transfer talks with the Ibrox club.
He knows in his heart of hearts his actions have seriously hampered his chances of making it at Ibrox.
Here, the Sun tells us what a gaffe it was from the former Sheffield Wednesday player:
Gassama spoke to Martin and R*****s when the Govan side were down at St George’s Park for their training camp this month.
The 21-year-old was there with his former club Wednesday who had also travelled to the home of English football for training.
He met with the Light Blues for signing talks in the facilities but had no time to change from the casual clothes he was wearing at the time.
And that meant he arrived at the meeting wearing an unfortunate top – as he was donning a Boston CELTICS shirt.
Unfortunate indeed.
Like Lemony Snicket once said, a series of misfortunate events.
Because poor Gassama was totally unaware of the Glasgow rivalry which is the root cause of this aversion to the colour green.
Here the Sun explains it properly:
It’s understood the wide-man had absolutely no idea about the rivalry in Glasgow and hadn’t cottoned to the irony of choosing that particular sports brand for the meeting.
But it of course didn’t impact his move to the Gers as he went on to pen a four-year deal at Ibrox.
He’s bolstered an area which R*****s desperately needed strengthened following Cerny’s return to Wolfsburg.
Bassama could feature against Panathinaikos at Ibrox on Tuesday as he’s registered in Martin’s squad for the crucial qualifier.
Ah bless him, he hadn’t cottoned on.
It appears that the stenographer from the Sun, David Robson, hasn’t cottoned on to his name either.
Its Gassama, not Bassama.
Bassama, apologies, Gassama, could feature against another green team on Tuesday evening.
Panathinaikos are the visitors to Ibrox for their crucial Champions League qualifier.
A club that wears an all green kit, with white sleeves, and a shamrock on their club crest.

Well, if that doesn’t cause them to froth at the mouth and drive them on to victory, I’m not sure what will.
Best not let Bomber Brown on Ibrox TV that night.
He could lose the plot completely and end up hauled up in front of UEFA instead of the SFA.
You’ve got to feel for them over there.
Green-o-phobia is a terrible condition.
We wish them all the best.
Slow news day.
You should have went for a few beers instead Eric.
I’m sure Connor Goldson used to play football with basketball gear on.

Are you aware of there was a game on Saturday Editor. A great 4-0 victory over an Epl side. But wait a positive story. You don’t deal in them do you. Great goals were number 3 and 4. Give it a watch, it might make you smile.
Full review of that match in yesterday’s first article, or did you miss that? Apparently, you did.
I stand corrected. Brief as it was.
