I read a story today by a Celtic blog which shall remain unnamed because I think you’ll figure out very quickly which particular blog it is.
We mention this blog a lot on our podcast.
In fact, we regularly invite people to head on over to it if they don’t like what we’re discussing.
Because let’s be fair here, the stuff we talk about isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.
There are a lot of fans out there that don’t like hearing what we have to say.
Maybe its because the truth hurts?
I’ll be the first to admit that as bloggers, we speculate.
But we speculate based on what we see happening day in, day out at Celtic.
More often than not, our speculation turns out to be right.
Right at this moment in time, there are two factions in the Celtic support.
One is the faction that sees exactly what’s going on at the club, and understands exactly what it is.
The other faction is in complete and utter denial.
The Celtic blog I’m referring to in this article is very much part of that faction.
As the days tick away towards our Champions League qualifier, with only two remaining before we announce our CL squad, some people are still clinging to the belief that we’ll do the business required to strengthen our team.
Considering the snail’s pace our board operates at, do any of you really believe we’ll have at least two players signed before the deadline is in place for the announcement of our Champions League squad?
Really?
So take the time to think about these lines; ‘It might be helpful to know that Celtic are not waiting on Champions League qualification to decide to spend money or not. This is just not true. To suggest otherwise does not make sense‘.
There are exactly twenty days left in this transfer window.
If the Celtic board are not waiting on Champions League qualification to decide to spend money or not, then what exactly is it that they’re waiting for?

Because to send us into the Champions League qualifiers as undermanned as we are up front makes zero sense to me whatsoever.
But it gets better.
Have a look at this:
‘We are a football club who are about reaching the Champions League and winning trophies. Achieving these goals puts money in the bank, which makes the goals more achievable in future. Leaving money in the bank puts zero money in the pockets of anyone working at Celtic’.
Okay, I’ll start with the winning trophies line, and how achieving these goals puts money in the bank.
We have proven over the last 14 years or so that winning trophies in Scotland is easier than it should be because there isn’t a serious challenge coming from any other club.
If we win a treble, that gives us about £5.5 million in prize money.
This is miniscule in comparison to what we secure if we qualify for the Champions League.
Right now, with the squad we have, we could conceivably win a treble in Scotland.
Especially since we’re being managed by a manager like Brendan Rodgers.
But qualification for the Champions League?
I would put our chances at 50/50 right now.
And this should never be the case.
But it is, because our board has systematically weakened our squad since this time last year.
And thus far, they have replaced none of the players they’ve sold.
Therefore, this is putting our chances of qualifying for the Champions League in jeopardy.
Our board is not giving us the best possible fighting chance of qualification for this competition.
Because they seem to have refused point blank to spend money in this window.
So, now that I’ve got that out of the way, I’ll focus on the next part of that paragraph, which is a complete contradiction of itself.
Yes, achieving these goals does put money in the bank, but how does putting money in the bank make these goals more achievable in the future?
When its money that we have no intention of spending?
We keep stockpiling money, but for what exactly?
And here is the contradiction, leaving money in the bank puts zero money in the pockets of anyone working at Celtic….
So we’re putting it in there not to spend it, but nobody benefits from it?
If that’s the case, then what is the bloody point of stockpiling it then?
So that nobody whatsoever can benefit from it in any way, shape, or form?
Bar HM Customs and revenue, of course.
If we’re to believe that statement, the money is in stasis, doing absolutely nothing other than gaining interest.
In case it slipped anybody’s mind, we are a football club, part of being a football club involves buying and selling players.
We seem to have mastered the selling part, its the buying part we struggle with.
And by not spending money, we are jeopardising the whole idea of qualifying for the Champions League.
Which apparently we do to put money in the bank.
To make our goals more achievable in the future.
By not spending any money.
Confused yet?
Yeah, I know, none of it makes sense.
Here’s the best bit though, and you’ve got to read it to believe the audacity of it;
‘Telling fans Celtic have tens of millions in the bank but are waiting to see if they will earn more before spending, is like a sport. They are laughing at us. Celtic fans are being toyed with, largely because information on Celtic’s transfer work is not leaking’.
Firstly, I would ask the question, who are they??
Why not just say it?
James Forrest, Joe McHugh, and Eric Knott are laughing at us, amongst others, is that it?
Well, if I wasn’t laughing before, I sure as shit am now.
But not at the idea of us evil bloggers from the dark side harping on about the tens of millions in the bank, no, the fact that the individual who wrote this garbage actually believes that we are ‘toying’ with Celtic fans.
Jesus Christ, as a Celtic fan, I feel like I’m being toyed with all the time by our board.
But to say that I shouldn’t speak about the fact we have tens of millions in the bank, and we won’t spend it because I might offend some people by toying with them?
That’s just complete and utter bollocks.
Its like something you’d hear in an episode of Father Ted.
‘Oh, we just have those tens of millions resting in the bank account, but don’t you be mentioning it now! Down with that sort of thing!’
‘You’ll only be toying with those poor fragile Celtic fans out there who don’t want to be hearing about that sort of thing at all!’
Jesus wept.
And the final bit, Celtic fans are being toyed with, largely because information on Celtic’s transfer work is not being leaked??
Holy shit, what rock has this guy been living under these past couple of weeks?

Did he miss the whole Go Ahead Eagles fiasco?
When the Dutch club made it blatantly obvious what Celtic’s ‘transfer work’ amounted to?!
Leaked would be an understatement, a river bursting it’s banks would be more applicable in this case.
Honest to God, I can see why Joe constantly directs the happy clappers to this site.
Because if you were to believe any of that claptrap, you’d believe anything.
I’m off now, because I’m very upset at how I’ve been portrayed in all of this.
Very upset, I’ll tell you.
Saying that I toy with people for sport?
How could you?
I don’t think I’ll ever get over that.
P.S. This is not lazy journalism.
YouTube: The Final Countdown
Meanwhile, if you like being offended, toyed with for sport, and taught real economics when it comes to how a football club is run, we run a good counselling service on the Trinity Tims, which you’ll find here.
Anybody that listens to you or the YouTube discussion knows how much it means to you’s . We’ve all known it bad in the past but the more money this board gets the more miserable they become . Starting to think we will maybe get a winger but the numbers that’s needed to get to last seasons strength we won’t get . Chances are we get one and we’ll be expected to be grateful . Get the money spent
It’s hard to believe that any fan could be happy about this. Some say the board are fans too, are you having a laugh?
Leaving money in the bank puts zero money in the pockets of anyone working at Celtic ? Are they having a laugh ? What about all those big bonuses and fatcat wages the board give themselves for holding us back? . Anyone coming out with stuff like that are obviously happy clappers and most likely are in with certain people at the club. I wish they would all F###k off and leave the club in the hands of someone with the clubs best interests at heart and not their own bank balance and heated driveway.
I can only commend you all for calling out the so-called Celtic minded 67hh bull$hit, so blatantly obvious how every story is slanted towards negativity.
Celtic news now is a great app, unfortunately constantly inundated with regurgitated crap from said site.
Never click on an article from them again.
We have to keep in mind that the blogger in question is a total weirdo, having met him on occasion.
I’ve never regarded him as a fan of the actual team on the park.
That’s not what floats his boat.
It’s the business side that he has a hard on for.
This is why he blogs with that in mind.
Get over yourself. Where in the article does it mention you three know it alls. My God CQN really does get under your skin eh! LOL.
if Jack, Dougal and Ted had a podcast what could it be called, them being priests and all that.
i am only speculating. because the invisible ceo and the absentee landlord and the egomaniac chairman are all still there
but what happens if that successful business man who has that other blog becomes a ned
Every celtic podcast or stream is about one subject and one subject only transfer spending. It was the same last year, it will no doubt be the same next year. I have been a celtic supporter all of my 61yrs +8months,I’ll always be a celtic supporter, in all of those years I have never told the club who to buy, how much to pay for that player or how much to pay him. If I live another 61yrs I still won’t tell them but, I will always be a celtic supporter. Call it happy clapping if you like, I call it supporting celtic.
good man wullie .
I can’t believe U bhoys the Trinity Tims tell the truth and are concerned about Celtic and all U do on every one of their sites is back up the board why wake up
Can’t stand the Celtic blog. They are the absolute WORST. Always looking to bash the green brigade. I swear the guy enjoys & can’t wait 2 do it. Chaps an absolute shitebag
Eric
A bit later than I would have preferred, however, from a personal stance, I completely ignore the likes of 67HH and most of the other imposter bloggers. Anyone with half a brain can see how illiterate, uninformed and mentally deficient they must be to think their postings can impact anybody with basic common sense. The Trinity Tims’ wheel is turning with obvious strength and impact. The Tims clearly provides the essential ingredient to maintain a classic Celtic Bond identifying our true DNA.
Keep the big wheel turning and at the forefront of a realistic future for our Club.
