So Brendan Rodgers would be keen to stay at Celtic? I’d imagine there would be one caveat though…it would have to be under a different board

Brendan Rodgers’ press conference today was box office, and as usual, the Celtic boss handled himself brilliantly and with dignity.
Which is much more than can be said for those above him, that’s for sure.
Now, the entirety of the conference has been well covered by fan media, inclusive of what I’m going to discuss.
But I’m going to discuss it from quite a different angle.
At the time of writing, this afternoon’s press conference has still not been uploaded to YouTube for Celtic fans to watch.
Usually, it’s always up around 3 o’clock, but not today.
Jeez, I wonder why?
In fact, one wonders if the cowardly individual Rodgers called out has had anything to do with this?
Once again, the board is showing themselves up for the gutless wonders they are.
They know people want to see this media conference, but they’ve delayed putting it up.
It’s pathetic really.
Anyway, I’m digressing slightly.
When Brendan Rodgers was questioned on his future at Celtic, the answers he gave were quite interesting.
Have a look at this response when he was asked about his long-term future with his current contract due to expire in the summer:
It hasn’t really changed from the last time. I would love to stay here longer, I’ve had informal chats with Dermot (Desmond) and Michael (Nicholson) but no offer to consider.
And then this response when asked if he would be open to staying under the right circumstances:
100%. I guaranteed I would do three years, and if going forward I do get offered a deal, there does have to be conditions in that, that allow me to work the best I can.
Note the question that was put to Rodgers asked him if he would stay under the right circumstances.
At this point in time, you have to ask yourself what the right circumstances would entail for Brendan Rodgers?
Because after today’s press conference, the Celtic manager is under no illusions that people from within the club are briefing against him in the media.
And he’s also acutely aware that this isn’t the first time.
If today’s press conference presented itself as an opportunity to settle old scores, the Celtic boss took it gratefully with both hands.
When he was asked about last Friday’s article in the Sun, here’s what he had to say:
It was interesting when I was shown that. My honest take? I thought it was a cowardly action from whoever it is.
Was I surprised by it? Not really. I was briefed upon the last time I was here, when I left, and now that I’ve come back.
Rodgers also stated that he felt an internal investigation should be carried out to identify who briefed against him.
Which means, quite simply, that he’s not going to stand for it.
And based on the above comments, reading between the lines, the right circumstances for Brendan Rodgers to remain at the club in my view, would involve working under a new hierarchy.
Because there is no way he would work a day longer than necessary under the current hierarchy.
That relationship is damaged beyond repair.
Regardless of what anyone says.
If the current board cared about their relationship with the manager, they would have apologised to him in their AI abomination last Saturday for their abysmal treatment of him.
Not once, but twice.
Now, let’s get one thing straight here, Brendan Rodgers is a highly intelligent individual.
He knows and recognises exactly what is going on at the club at this current time.
The manager can also see that the fans are fully behind him and his team.
He knows that he has the support and well wishes of tens of thousands of fans.
The board, on the other hand, are now in a position where they have little or no support.
So, morally and mentally, who is in the stronger position?
Rodgers knows he has the moral high ground here.
He has faced this crisis every step of the way, he has been front and centre answering all the questions on it.
While others lurk and hide in the background like the cowards they are.
Wording that Rodgers did not shy away from today.
Because mentally, he knows he is in a far stronger position here.
He has the full support of the fanbase, and no doubt, his captain and his players.
And he’s also intelligent enough to know where this is headed.
With each passing day, this board is losing more and more credibility.
Yet they continue to dig themselves deeper and deeper into a hole of their own creation.
Hell, they’re still at it today.
Their gutless refusal to post the manager’s media conference on YouTube is proof positive of that.
I mean, really?
How stupid do these people think we are?
Every move they make reeks of utter incompetency and cowardice.
So, those circumstances that Brendan Rodgers might be willing to stay under?
Well, they are most likely circumstances that he feels could come about as a result of the position the board now finds itself in.
He’s smart enough to know their position is becoming untenable.
And underneath it all, I’m sure he feels a small sense of smug satisfaction as a result of that.
Who could blame him?
Rodgers is focused on one thing only, and here he says it:
My thoughts currently are purely on getting the team back playing with our identity again.
Because that’s all he has to do.
Get that right, and all Rodgers has to do is bide his time as events between the fans and the board play themselves out during the season ahead.
We know we’re going to win out here, however long it takes.
Brendan Rodgers might just be smart enough to know that too.
Now it’s just a waiting game for him.
He has our 100% support.
But the caveat for him to stay at Celtic?
I’d imagine that would have to be under a new board.
Rodgers might just get his wish on that score.

The press and the media stirring up trouble for Celtic as per usual been doing it as long as i can remember i believe theres other factors at play in all of this ,One theory the huns have been unsuccessful for years now they have outside help who will be looking for a return on there investment if they cant pull it of it may ruin there club for good this time so causing unrest with our club gives them an advantage puts pressure on us and takes some of it from them — think on

He praised DD.
He mentioned the CEO and CFO by name and claimed they all want the same thing.If he thought they had something to do with the briefing he would not have done that.
I think we all know who it was.
My prediction is this.
BR will sign a new contract and PL will resign at the AGM.
Absolutely superb article! You have condensed everything that the Celtic supporters feel and I wholeheartedly congratulate for that. We have to back Brendan and the team and do all we can to get rid of the parasites running our club. Hail Hail!

You claimed last week that the Huns had spent £35 million over the summer and I asked if you could provide any evidence of that, other than Daily Record havering, but you ignored my request.
So I must ask you once again, what evidence do you have that ‘R2ngers’ have spent £35 million over the summer and if you don’t have such evidence why would you write an article proclaiming this wishful thinking as alleged ‘fact’?
What was your source and how did you cross reference it to strengthen that claim so you can then declare it to be true?

Hi Mick, my source was transfermarkt. Not usually a reputable website when it comes to transfers etc. But it is generally accurate when it comes to player transfer costings in and out for all teams. As a rule of thumb, I look at their costings on Celtic players, and they seem to be pretty accurate. However, they do show all transfer costs in euro, so when I looked at the Ibrox transfer costs, I had to convert them to pounds. When I did, £35 million was the figure. But you must also bear in mind that this was not their net spend. They sold Igamane and Dessers making £14.5 million for those sales and replaced them with like for like players in Chermitti and Miovski at a similar cost. Something our own board could have learned a lesson from when they sold two of our strikers and didn’t replace them. In answer to your question overall, £35 million was their overall spend on incomings, their net spend, however, was less as a result of sales. Check out transfermarkt if you want to see player valuations.
Brendan needs to know we have his back and that we desperately want him to stay after his current contract is up.
By deduction I think the main instigator against him and also who is pulling the strings with everything else is PL.
Yesterday he stated he was briefed about this the last time he was here.So who was in charge then and high up still?
He also mentioned he had good relations with DD and ML.
So who does that leave who is powerful enough to issue the disgusting hit piece to the Sun and no one at Celtic holds them to account?
Thanks for the reply, Eric, I lost all faith in Transfermarkt when theHuns bought that Brazilian player Cifuentes for 2 million and he was list3d on Transfermarkt the next day as being worth 12 million! 😁
And naebody would have gave ye tuppence for him.
I was even starting to think it was run by some rabid Hun trying to inflate the values of the dross they brought in, as I said on the somewhat obese chap’s blog at the time.
Then there was the scandal a while back where they claimed they’d got 6 million off Leeds for Kamara til it came out in their accounts that they’d only got 600 grand for Kamara, Cantwell and the other 4 or 5 lumps of dross they’d finally got rid of earlier.
Yet Transfermarkt ran with the lie that they’d got 6 mil for the Finnish international and anither 2 mil for the preening little ponce that was Cantwell so please excuse my not believing one word form either of these two ridiculous sources.
