Leeds United might be “closely monitoring” Sebastian Tounekti, but its highly unlikely Celtic will sell him to the people who own the Ibrox club

There’s a story doing the rounds in the last couple of days about Celtic winger Sebastian Tounekti.

It has emerged from all of the usual garbage clickbait sites, which in itself tells you that this is a story that shouldn’t be taken seriously.

I’m certainly not taking it seriously because it originates from a website which cannot even spell the player’s name correctly.

In the article on a website called Maghreb-Foot, his name is spelled incorrectly, not once, but twice.

They’ve called him Sebastian Tonkti and Sebastian Tuncti.

Now, any website which cannot even be bothered to attempt to spell a player’s name correctly should not be taken seriously.

The site says that according to “newspaper reports”, Leeds United are interested in signing Tounekti in January.

Which is interesting, considering they give no source in relation to these “newspaper reports”.

Usually, if you’ve found newspaper reports about a club being interested in signing a player, you’ll provide a link to said reports.

But Maghreb-Foot fails to provide any links to where this story emerged.

Yet three clickbait sites have run with this story, all citing Maghreb-Foot as their source.

Leeds might or might not be “closely monitoring” Tounekti, even if they were, it’s highly unlikely Celtic would sell him to the owners of the Ibrox club anyway.

For me, this is what makes this particular story even less believeable.

49ers enterprises own Leeds United, just as they own the Ibrox club.

As a result, you’d imagine Celtic would be loathe to sell Tounekti to them.

Now, we all know that our board has a penchant for selling players at the right price.

But we are no position at the moment to sell anyone considering how stretched our squad is.

Right now, you would expect us to be going into the January transfer window with the intention of strengthening our squad.

Well, if our revered principal shareholder at Celtic is to be believed, then that should be the case.

Since he’s all about “restoring harmony, strengthening the squad, and continuing to build a club worthy of it’s values, traditions, and supporters”.

And if he really wants to restore harmony, then selling Sebastian Tounekti would not be the most sensible thing to do, would it?

So, when a North African website tells you that Leeds United are interested in Sebastian Tonkti, you should treat it with the skepticism it deserves.

I can pretty much guarantee it won’t be happening.

The clickbait merchants out there will try and pull a story from anywhere.

But you’re smart enough to know what’s bullshit and what’s the real deal.

And mark my words, this one is bullshit.
