It will be interesting to see after today if the Celtic board grows a pair and complains about the decisions that went against us at Easter Road.
I have to hand to hand it to Nick Walsh, he’s nothing, if not consistent.
It seems to me like he has a go-to reaction to certain kinds of fouls.
Yellow cards for kicks in the head – consistent.
Penalties for making every effort not to handle the ball – consistent.
But I have to say, after today, I cannot wrap my head around the fact that the Ibrox side got away with what they got away with last weekend.
It is clear that today’s penalty decision was examined to the nth degree, from every angle possible.
Yet last weekend, the most blatant penalty you have ever seen not given, barely warranted a second look.
Nick Walsh hasn’t refereed a game involving Celtic since that League Cup Semi-final against the Ibrox side.
Now, I know we have little reason to complain, just as we had little reason to complain after the League Cup Semi-final.
We won, so you’d think we should just let it go and be happy with that fact, yeah?
But how can you be?
In the game against the Ibrox side, there were many decisions that should have gone our way that were completely ignored.
Everything in the aftermath of that game was centred around the Trusty boot tap on Butland’s head.
The blatant push in the Ibrox box was completely ignored, as was the assault on Johnny Kenny.
For almost 3 weeks, we had to listen to the Ibrox side bitch and moan about the Trusty incident.
They howled that “too many important matches continue to be influenced by calls that are inconsistent and difficult to justify.”
Well, if they want consistency and justification, then they should have called for it after their game against Livingston last weekend.
If you’re going to spend three weeks moaning about a decision that went against you, then at least have the guts to recognise when you got away with one.
And if you want respect when it comes to things like this, then release a statement after something like what happened last weekend.
Maybe then the rest of Scottish football would take you seriously?
The Ibrox side will scream from the roof tops when something goes against them.
They release statement after statement.
But their silence is deafening when they get away with one.
Celtic, on the other hand, will just do nothing and say nothing.
Whether something goes against us, or we get away with one.
Our board is more interested in releasing statements attacking their own support, than in calling out the injustices that happen to us on the field of play.
Today, at Easter Road, the kick into Arne Engels head was a red card all day long.
As for the penalty decision?
If that was a penalty, then what in holy f*** was that at Ibrox last week?
What you saw then was the most blatant handball, which should have resulted in a penalty, that you’ll ever see.
What you saw today was farcical.
Liam Scales made every effort to head the ball away, and then it ran onto his shoulder.
Not his hand, or even his arm for that matter.
The fact that Greg Aitken felt Nick Walsh should have been called to the monitor to examine it defies belief.
The fact that Walsh didn’t overturn it and say, no, there’s nothing to see here, baffles me.
Because there was nothing to see.
Liam Scales attempted to head the ball, it hits his shoulder and then goes back to the keeper.
That is not a handball.
What happened at Ibrox last week WAS a handball.
Yes, we won today, so theoretically, we should have little or nothing to complain about.
And yes, our board will do nothing about this.
In fact, they are more likely to release a statement pillorying Celtic fans than they are to release one calling this shit out.
This is part of the reason refereeing standards will never improve in the Scottish game.
Celtic, as a club, are big enough to make a difference when it comes to refereeing standards.
But for some unknown reason, we choose not to.
Fergus McCann proved that we could make a difference.
He would not tolerate any bollocks from the SFA, which was clearly proven when he took Jim Farry on and won.
What we would give to have somebody like McCann at Celtic again.
He sure as hell would not put up with the kind of decisions we had had to put up with today.

Today’s handball was a penalty all day long no matter what jersey the guy had on so we can’t complain about it. And do we want to turn into they greeting faced folk from across the way by saying aye we gave away a pen but what about THEM? Walsh for me got a few decisions wrong, but he certainly wasn’t assisted by his linesman or var for them.
Var looked at the Engels kick to the head and didn’t see reckless endangerment? He looked at the Yang collision and didn’t see a penalty?
Penalty all day long. I’m not sure what all the fuss is about. Chicken wing arm from Scales is not natural, and Hibs player was waiting to tap in. Clear penalty.
Was certainly a questionable decision and you knew, never any doubt, it was going to be given.

“That’s Harsh” – what does that even mean??? Either it’s a penalty as per the laws of the game or it’s a subjective decision in which case tell us your opinion Chris as to whether you believe it to be a penalty, that’s what you are being paid for.
