Welcome to the wacky world that is the Celtic January transfer window.
In breaking news, Celtic have tabled a £1.5 million bid for Ibrox star striker, Bojan Miovski.
The Celtic board have yet to receive a response from Ibrox officials on their audacious bid, but is believed that manager Danny Röhl was stopped for a comment after training yesterday.
Here’s what he had to say:
Celtic have tabled a bid for Bojan Miovski? This is the first I’ve heard of it. Please, you must excuse me, I’m a very serious operator, but even I cannot help laughing at this. Are sure this isn’t a joke?
Our reporter suggested to Danny Röhl that £1.5 million was the bid tabled by Celtic for the Macedonian striker.
Needless to say, this suggestion was met with incredulity from the Ibrox manager:
If this is the bid, then they are wasting their time, Bojan is worth much more than this. But I cannot believe that this is serious, this is a wind up, yes?
When we assured Danny Röhl that Celtic had indeed lodged a bid, he shrugged his shoulders, and replied:
This just shows me how desperate they are to stop us challenging for this title. They are so desperate, that they wish to sign our players in an attempt to stop us in this challenge. I have no doubt the board will treat this with the contempt it deserves.
That was as much comment as the Ibrox manager would give.
There was nobody available at Celtic Park for comment on this.
To us, it seems highly unorthodox to approach your closest rival for one of their main assets.
Especially a striker.
However, this isn’t the first time Celtic have done this in this transfer window.
The approach for Leeds United striker – Joel Piroe – was effectively the same kind of behaviour.
Piroe belongs to a club that is owned by 49ers Enterprises, just as the Ibrox side is.
Paraag Marathe is the Chairman of Leeds United, and the Vice-Chairman of the Ibrox side.
Selling one of their strikers to one of their main rivals would be out of the question.
This particular approach was met with the derision it deserves, but that didn’t seem to deter the Celtic board, who then launched their laughable bid for Bojan Miovski.
Needless to say, it was nowhere near the £3 million the Ibrox side paid for him.
Celtic has had a habit of late of approaching clubs with derisory bids, and most clubs are now unsure if they’re serious or if they’re actually taking the piss.
Beyond tabling derisory bids, the Celtic board will rarely stretch to a loan to buy option or a loan when it comes to acquiring players in the January transfer window.
They state that it is notoriously hard to conduct business in the January transfer window, but strangely enough, other clubs seem to be capable of doing their business without too much difficulty.
It is highly unlikely this bid for Bojan Miovski will even be entertained at Ibrox, so it begs the question, why even bother tabling it?
Many people think that the Celtic board place these strange bids to appear busy in the transfer window, but nobody can figure out the thought process behind this one.
We don’t see it going any further than it has, but just remember, you heard it here first.
Alright, alright, you’ve outed me, this is a spoof, but at this point – and after the Joel Piroe story – you begin to believe this board could do anything.
Seeing a bid placed, and a derisory one at that, for an Ibrox player wouldn’t come as a shock at this point.
Nothing this board does now comes as a shock to anyone.
Its hard to understand what the thought process was when it came to the enquiry on Joel Piroe.
Who in the Celtic board room thought that this was a sane idea?
How did it even get as far as it did?
And who broke it to the media?
The Ibrox side or us?
It actually wouldn’t surprise me if our board divulged it to their media partners under the guise of being busy.
Or Fauxductivity, as I pointed out in yesterday’s article.
In some other real news, apparently Celtic are actually about to sign a striker.
On a loan to buy deal, shock horror.
He’s been prolific this season so far with a grand total of one goal scored.
But who knows, he might just be the right fit for Martin O’Neill’s Celtic?
Tomáš Čvančara is a tall guy, and we know how much O’Neill liked tall strikers in his first stint at Celtic, don’t we?
Just remember, Chris Sutton had only scored one goal for Chelsea before he came to Celtic.

I don’t believe it can be anything other than deliberate…personally i think it’s pure spite,not incompetence. Payback for the anti-establishment upstarts who, as shareholder,dared to ask legitimate questions. To be honest,i don’t actually give a solitary fuck how that board is ousted…I’m done until they’re gone.
Understandable that the striker boy is loan to buy, if MON is only here till the end of the season there’s no point paying full whack guys the new manager might not fancy and will leech money as they languish at Lennoxtown for years. Still though….

A through investigation into Celtic’s finances might do your career the world of good but it looks like you’ve shied away from that, preferring to label it a ‘conspiracy theory’, yes?
Perhaps begin by asking the question
‘How could Celtic have £77 million in the bank at the start of the season, post a £34 million profit in June yet still only have the same £77 million in the bank.
Where did the £34 million go?’
That would be a great start.
Then you could move onto the never ending mystery of Celtic’s running costs, currently calculated at a terrifying £117.1 million for last season alone, or £230 million over two seasons, unitemised and seemingly unchecked.
It would certainly make a nice change from your one line paragraphs.
Who knows, we might even learn something worth knowing about how Celtic are really run rather than how they say they’re run.
