Keevins puts the kiss of death on the Ibrox side’s title aspirations. Its Celtic’s to lose now

Hugh Keevins believes that the balance of power in Glasgow is shifting from the east end over to Govan.

In his haste to write off Celtic, he firmly believes that stability at Ibrox is the reason for this.

So, are we to believe that just because the Ibrox side have new-found stability, that this means the end for us?

For the better part of the last decade of the 90’s and well into the 21st century, we were led to believe there was stability at Ibrox, as David Murray spent the old club into the grave.

As I pointed out in yesterday’s article, we are in season one of American ownership at Ibrox – and already – the record spend in a season by any Ibrox club has been beaten.

Now, I have no idea what way UEFA are observing this, but it seems to me that the Americans consider FSR to be an irritable inconvenience.

Something that is best ignored.

But that’s a story for another day.

It is easy for Hugh Keevins to state that stability has all of a sudden descended on Ibrox, when our board of incompetents are running a literal juggernaut through our stability.

The thing about instability at Celtic, is that it usually doesn’t last very long.

While our reputation this season has been well and truly trashed, our long-term reputation still precedes us.

We are still the biggest name in Scottish football.

Our fans recognise what its going to take to return our club to a stable position.

And we won’t give up until that’s achieved.

Over at Ibrox, and not that long ago, their fans stood idly by and watched their club die.

Now, it seems that spending big is badge of honour, rather than something they should be concerned about.

You’d think they’d suffer from PTSD in that regard after what happened in 2012?

But no, the fact that they’re fast approaching a spend of £200 million with 3 trophies to show for it since 2012 doesn’t seem to concern anyone over there.

Especially when you have twats like Keevins to soothe you when it comes to your new-found “stability”.

And of course, a manager with the demeanour of a professor.

Who is going to be witness to a football game today at Ibrox that is going to resemble a fight at a bus stop.

As far as Keevins is concerned, Celtic are out of this title fight.

Its a straight shootout between Hearts and the Ibrox side.

And all because stability at Ibrox has caused the balance of power to shift.

As a writer, I’m not like Keevins, because I don’t continuously try to predict things long before they’ve reached their conclusion.

Keevins consistently does it, and in doing so, puts the kiss of death on many of the aspirations of Scottish Premiership teams.

I suppose you could put it down to denial?

Keevins is tired of seeing Celtic continuously win League titles.

So he gets excited when it looks like we might stumble.

He gets ahead of himself with predictions that seem to consistently fall flat on their face.

For the better part of the 21st century, that has been his modus operandi.

Today is no different.

Now, he may think that the balance of power is shifting in Glasgow, so who am I to stop him?

As a Celtic supporter, I believe I saw a credible reason as to why the title might stay in the east end this season.

Hugh Keevins has chosen to barely mention the arrival of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at Celtic.

The Ox, in the past, has been a game changer.

He proved on Wednesday evening that he still has that ability on his debut, with his late winner against Livingston.

Martin O’Neill went to serious lengths to convince Oxlade-Chamberlain to come to Celtic Park.

He did that because he knows what a player of his calibre can contribute to Celtic.

I understand that today is all about the big game at Ibrox, but we have a job to do at Rugby Park before hand in the early kick off.

If we win that one, there is serious pressure on both the Ibrox side and Hearts going into their game at 4pm.

A draw is an ideal result for us if we can do the business against Kilmarnock.

If things work out that way, then I believe this becomes Celtic’s title to lose.

Contrary to anything Hugh Keevins says.

Keevins, of course, has put the kiss of death on the Ibrox side’s title aspirations this morning.

He did that by stating the balance of power has shifted to them.

Considering the Ibrox side’s history, and the history of their predecessor, its a bit rich to be talking about stability over there.

This time two years ago, Keevins predicted they were going to be title winners under Philippe Clement.

Clement was the messiah.

Röhl is the professor.

Well, I guess that makes Martin O’Neill a wise old man?

Who has been there, done it all, with a myriad of trophies to show for it.

To count him out of this title race would be pretty foolish.

But Keevins does what Keevins does.

And we all know how it usually turns out…
