The only show in town. Celtic, Hearts, Motherwell and the Ibrox side show Britain what a REAL title race is about!

We might not have the billions of television money that’s washing around the EPL in the Scottish Premiership, but for what we lack in finance, we sure as hell make up in passion, atmosphere, and excitement.

This season’s Scottish Premiership has turned into one of the most exciting title races in decades.

Its something Scottish football has needed for a long time, but its also something that’s starting draw attention from outside fair Caledonia.

There have been some magic moments in the Scottish game since the turn of the year.

And they just keep on coming.

Scripts to games you just couldn’t write, and things you rarely expect to see in the game of football these days.

Take Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for example.

A player who had been out of the game for 9 months, quietly training away with Arsenal – and suddenly, and really out of the blue – he finds himself in the thick of a title race for the ages.

He makes his debut on a damp and dreary night in Glasgow against the bottom side in the League, but its a game we have to win.

We have to win every game, irrespective of who the opponent is.

One piece of magic from The Ox in the 91st minute, and Celtic have won a game that had draw written all over it.

Oxlade-Chamberlain immediately gains cult status because who does something like that on their debut these days?

Then, fast forward to yesterday’s epic comeback at Rugby Park.

Once again, Oxlade-Chamberlain was the game changer.

He might not have scored a goal, although he did come close, but his introduction changed the course of the game.

With Reo Hatate once again anonymous in midfield, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s presence in the second half put steel into a midfield that seemed as soft as putty before the interval.

The Ox has been there, done it all, and won the lot in his career up to now.

But the look of sheer joy on his face at the full time whistle yesterday determined that what he experienced yesterday was for him, a first.

I’d wager he has never seen a stand with just four thousand fans in it erupt like the Chadwick end at Rugby Park did yesterday after Julian Araujo’s 97th minute winner.

And he’s seen it all in his time.

But he realises now what Joe Hart and Andy Robertson were trying to tell him before he headed north of the border.

I’ll bet he feels rejuvenated, invigorated, and on top of the world right now.

Even if he is supposed to be in the twilight of his career.

I’m sure he’s also realised very quickly that the Scottish Premiership is the furthest thing from a retirement home!

But I will tell you one thing.

If The Ox can remain injury free for Celtic, he will play a pivotal part in this title run in.

Its clear that the level and extent of the training he was doing with Arsenal had him fully prepared to step into this title race.

Because he looked like he was – and always had been – an integral part of the Celtic midfield yesterday for the entirety of that second half at Kilmarnock.

Then take Julian Araujo, a player who made over 100 appearances in MLS with the L.A. Galaxy, which earned him a move to Barcelona.

While that didn’t quite work out for him, he ended up out on loan at Las Palmas, and then moved on to Bournemouth in the EPL.

He was kicking his heels on the bench at the Vitality stadium, racking up just one League Cup appearance before Celtic came calling.

Yesterday, he stated that scoring the winner at Rugby Park was a feeling he’ll remember for the rest of his life.

And he will.

There’s also probably a good chance he’ll have many more lifelong memories to cherish before this season is finished.

What I’ve discussed here is just some of the perspectives of this title race from Celtic players.

But it isn’t just about Celtic, this title race is the most exciting in Britain at this moment in time.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Julian Araujo’s contributions are just snippets out of what’s turning into title charge for the ages.

As I alluded to earlier, its impossible to script something like this.

When was the last time three hugely important goals were scored deep into injury time three times in a row?

This is unprecedented stuff.

Something you rarely see in the modern game these days, which often appears to be scripted, rather than the wild roller coaster ride we’re currently witnessing in the Scottish Premiership right now.

Even Stephen Welsh’s equaliser for Motherwell last Wednesday?

After what Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had done at Celtic Park minutes earlier, who in their wildest dreams would have thought a Celtic player on loan would get the equaliser against the Ibrox side?

The twists and turns in this race just keep on coming.

Will Hearts wilt under the pressure after their defeat at Ibrox yesterday?

Or will they prove they can stay in with a win over an in form Falkirk side next weekend?

Of course, when Falkirk visited Tynecastle last time out, they won in the Scottish Cup, so they’ll head there with no fear.

And Motherwell?

They’re not quite out of this either.

If they win their game in hand, they move to within 7 points of the leaders.

The brand of exciting football they play under Jens Berthel Askou will ensure they have a say in the outcome of this season’s Scottish Premiership.

The Ibrox side showed that they had powers of recovery too, after their midweek stumble against Motherwell.

Youssef Chermiti showed that maybe there is a player worth £8 million in there after all?

Once again, next weekend will be another exciting chapter in this epic title race.

Hearts and Motherwell play on Saturday, with ourselves and the Ibrox side kicking off at 3pm on Sunday.

From our own perspective, we need to ensure we win comfortably in our game against Hibs.

Bearing that in mind, since Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain won’t be playing on Thursday night against Stuttgart, then he needs to start against David Gray’s side.

I’m confident that if he does, we will win that game comfortably.

Because just like yesterday, we should be able to control the game in midfield.

If we do that much, the rest should fall into place smoothly enough.

One thing is for sure, the majority of our players have the appetite for this fight now.

Their never say die attitude in the last three games proves that much.

There is only one show in town in Britain at the moment when it comes to twists, turns, passion, and excitement, and that’s the Scottish Premiership.

And you know what the best thing about it is?

It hasn’t even reached fever pitch at this point!
