The media goes into overdrive on new Ibrox Superstar Tuur Rommens. It would never do for Celtic or Julian Araujo to steal the limelight…

Tuur Rommens has only been at the Ibrox side for 3 games, yet the media has gone into overdrive since his arrival at Ibrox, labelling him the next Artur Numan.

Rommens is a left back, and seems to have hit the ground running since his arrival at Ibrox.

The Record is full of testimonies on the player yesterday.

From the Academy chief Koer Darden, at Jong Genk, to Gill Swerts, the Belgian Under-21 coach.

Former Ibrox hero Thomas Buffel finished off the article as the gushing praise just keeps on flowing.

Its amazing the lengths the media will go to to pull together a feel good Ibrox story.

You get the impression that its very much a case of anything you can do, we can do better.

Because there has been a feel good story flowing about a Celtic player all week, and Celtic cannot be allowed to steal the limelight.

Yet there are no gushing testimonies from coaches at the L.A. Galaxy, or coaches from the U.S. under-age setup when it comes to Julian Araujo.

The media would never go to those lengths to promote a Celtic player.

Now, don’t get me wrong, Tuur Rommens might turn out to be a great player for the Ibrox side.

But for the media to start heaping the amount of praise they have on him after just 3 games?

Well, that’s going to put a lot of undue pressure on a player who is just in the door at Ibrox.

But this is what the media always does.

A hero emerges at Celtic, and they have to create one at Ibrox.

In order to make him look amazing, they have to get several gushing testimonies on the player.

And then compare him to a former Ibrox hero.

What nobody seems to remember about Artur Numan is that his career at Rangers 1872 was blighted with injuries.

The same player then finished his playing career after leaving Rangers 1872 in 2003.

He never played at another club after that.

I’m sure Tuur Rommens doesn’t aspire to end his career as early as Numan did, but that’s neither here nor there.

Celtic fans have a new cult hero, so the Ibrox fans must now have one too.

Even if he’s played 3 times for the club.

It will be interesting to see which one emerges from this season a title winner?

After Araujo’s heroics on Sunday, I feel it was a turning point for Celtic in this title race.

Many Celtic fans feel that it was.

As for Araujo himself?

He has been attracting media attention worldwide.

But Tuur Rommens?

He’s attracting media attention from the Daily Record.

Who have wheeled out everybody connected to the player to sing his praises after 3 games.

Levels and all that.

Wherever there is a Celtic feel good story, there has to be an Ibrox one too.
