Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou was in the stands at Ibrox yesterday, but what might be of interest to Celtic fans is the fact that his agent was also with him to take in the game.
Now Berthel Askou may just have been there to take the game in, and to watch two of his main rivals.
The result at Ibrox also brought Motherwell right into the title race mix yesterday.
The Steelmen also have a game in hand over the current top two, and with the way they’ve been playing this season, you wouldn’t bet against them having a serious say in the destination of the title.
It might be a stretch for them to win it, although the bookies now have them on odds of 12/1 to become champions.
Realistically, it would take a collapse of epic proportions from the sides above them for that to happen, but never say never, I guess.
As for Jens Berthel Askou?
I’m fairly sure he was happy with the outcome of yesterday’s Glasgow derby between Celtic and the Ibrox side.

For him and Hearts, it was the ideal result.
But why was his agent there with him if he was just there to take the game in?
Celtic fans are speculating that he might have been there because Celtic are considering him as the next permanent manager at the club.
That would be true to form from the current Celtic board.
The kind of cheap option that would suit them down to the ground.
Look, there’s no doubting that Berthel Askou is a decent manager, and he’s done a fantastic job at Motherwell on a shoestring budget in comparison to the teams above him.
He has the Steelmen playing some fantastic football.
An aggressive, possession based game that a lot of sides, including us, have struggled to cope against.
He has also unearthed some very talented players in Elijah Just, Tawanda Maswanhise, and Lukas Fadinger.
While Maswanhise joined Motherwell before Berthel Askou did, it is under his management that he has thrived.
So much so, that Celtic showed interest in him in the January transfer window.
Elijah Just played under Berthel Askou at Danish side Horsens, so its clear he knew what the Kiwi player could bring to the table.
Just has been one of the outstanding players in the Scottish Premiership this season.
But is Jens Berthel Askou a good enough manager to manage a club as big as Celtic?
I think the answer to that is pretty simple.
If he won the title this season, then that would definitely strengthen his case.
Realistically, that is the only thing that would result in him gaining the credentials for the job.
But that’s not going to happen.
As I said before, that would require total capitulation from the sides above his team.
A manager who’s only success to date was in the Faroe Islands Premier League as the next Celtic manager?
Only somebody as vacuous as Michael Nicholson would consider something like that.

And that’s the scary thing here.
Because after the Nancy debacle, you just know its something Nicholson could do.
If there’s one thing we’ve learned from Nicholson, its that he does not learn lessons.
This board admits it’s made mistakes over the last year, but under Nicholson’s leadership, they’ve done the square root of fuck all to rectify any of those mistakes.
They do not learn from mistakes, period.
So yes, its scarily possible that Nicholson could be considering Berthel Askou as the next Celtic manager.
Which is why it might not be a coincidence that he and his agent were at Ibrox yesterday.
This is a suggestion that’s been doing the rounds for quite some time now.
But then again this is the level of expectation the board has reduced us to.
We laughed at the fact that Shaun Maloney could be Celtic manager last summer.
Now somehow, we’d gladly accept it.
Let’s just hope that this is nothing more than a rumour.
Unfortunately, this is the fear that the Celtic board gives us.
We believe anything insanely shitty is possible because we’ve seen every shade of shitty this season.
This is the kind of mentality we now have thanks to Nicholson and his cohorts in the boardroom.
I yearn for the day they are all gone.
It cannot come quick enough.

- Overall, fans hope this speculation is unfounded and desire a change in management strategy from the current board.
JF, the elite manager specialist has got into your head Eric. The Celtic fans who still believe we can attract a better option as manager are deluded. No ambitious manager with a decent profile will come near us. No financial backing, no European ambition, 3 managers this season including pleading with a 74 year old to come out of retirement to help us, board and fans at loggerheads. Yes I can just see the talent flocking to us, ha ha.
Any manager who gets a team of journeymen (with the greatest respect) playing like Motherwell has to have something really great about them. Dream on if you think we could do better
No matter who we get as manager without decent backing and split in the celtic supporters and Desmond and his cabal as a board he will fail that’s it adds up too Desmond and his cabal while they are in place will destroy this club , and as a footnote I believe the celtic team that faced the ragers cost 6 million pounds in total that should ring alarm bells with the fans
I’m afraid that the stupid prick (Nicholson) would go down this route.
Over 70% of readers want him as Celtic manager.
This article really missed the mark eh?
Eric, if he’s got his agent with him at Ibrox would it not make more sense that he ends up there. If he’s going to be appointed the next Celtic manager then realistically the deal would be done at Celtic Park. The Sevco fans know and probably the new owners as well that Sausage Rohl isn’t going to cut it, if it wasn’t for “patterns of assistance” from the Lanarkshire Referees Association they’d be nowhere near the top three in the league it’s more likely they’d be bottom six.
So who do you suggest as the next manager? If you have worked out that Askou isn`t the man for the job then who, bearing in mind what previous posters have said, would
you suggest ? If your answer is that it is not your job to pick the next Celtic manager, then you forfeit the right to say who it won`t
or shouldn`t be.
Roberto Martinez, but our board don’t have the ability, balls, or the will to spend the money required to land someone like him.
After the way this season has capitulated due to the sub-standard players that have been brought into the club to replace the proven quality players we have sold for huge profits, I’m more interested in knowing why we (supporters & shareholders) have been subjected to a worrying silence from the Major shareholder & the board since they attempted to beat the supporters & shareholders into submission after the debacle of the AGM !!!!
Has the Major shareholder maybe been attempting to find a buyer for his shareholding to free him from the mess the Football team is in this season that he has presided over ????
That’s my main interest, not who is going to be the next manager to step into this mess !!!!
As the present board have turned us into a joke then we need someone who can bring the best out in players. I feel he is doing this at Motherwell. I also agree with other posters that there is no chance of any proven big name taking the Celtic managers job when Martin retires. He might be Ipox bound or he simply might be a guest with his agent, as the agent will no doubt have done business at some point with people involved at Ipox, who knows, maybe he’s a hun and wanted to see his team
