For many Celtic supporters, this is a tough time.
Its a very difficult time to be a Celtic supporter, and within the next few weeks many of you will battle with your conscience when it comes to season ticket renewals.
Believe it or not, the board is depending on that.
They want you to be in this turmoil, and they want you to have a crisis of conscience when it comes to this difficult decision.
Before I go any further in this article, I’m going to give you some advice that you might think is crazy.
But before you draw that conclusion, read why I’m giving you this advice.
Here it is.
Don’t think twice about renewing your season ticket, just renew it.
Madness, you say?
Not when I break it down for you through the prism of ruthless, disconnected parasites, where hoarding money is the only objective.
The reality is that the current Celtic board does not want you to renew.

There is a very good reason for this.
The majority of season ticket holders at Celtic have held their seats at Celtic Park for decades.
I think its also safe to say that the majority of these people are fed up to the teeth with the current board.
Hence the reason season ticket renewal this year is fraught with difficulty for long term season ticket holders.
Whether you want to accept reality or not, there is a waiting list of 15,000 fans for season tickets.
There is an individual out there who wants your seat.
They’ve wanted it for years.
The board knows this, in fact this is what they’re hedging their bets on.
You also have to accept that many of these people, if they were to acquire your seat at Celtic Park, are what the board would consider fresh blood.
And by that I mean that should they get your seat, they will not be afraid to spend money at Celtic Park because getting a season ticket and a seat will be a completely new novelty to many of those on the waiting list.
Right now, you are angry with the state of Celtic.
But while you occupy your seat, your anger dictates that you do not want to spend a penny while you’re at Celtic Park.
You might be a very strong advocate of the Not Another Penny campaign.
As a result, you might bring your own food and drink to Celtic Park.
Because you don’t want to give this board your money.
Somebody younger than you, who might take your seat, might not be very wise to how bad things are at Celtic Park.
They might just be delighted to finally get that seat.
And the novelty of that will result in them spending money.
It will result in other family members being given the season book to attend Celtic Park, and they will happily spend money there too.
Corporate groups might look to snap up a block of seats, should they become available.
People like that will not be afraid to spend money.
Money is no object to them.
The Celtic board knows this, they’re watching and waiting for this kind of customer to come to Celtic Park.
The current customer base, the long-term season ticket holders, the board sees as stagnant.
Counterproductive to making money.
Disgruntled with the shitshow Celtic has become, and unwilling to delve into their pockets when attending Celtic Park.
To the board, you giving up your season ticket and seat at Celtic Park is manna from heaven.

The perfect opening for the prawn sandwich brigade to take it, and spend, spend, spend.
Out with the old, and in with the new, as it were.
If even 10,000 season tickets are not renewed by current season ticket holders, that’s 10,000 less hardcore Celtic fans at Celtic Park.
10,000 less anti-board fans at Celtic Park.
Are you starting to get the picture now?
They will be happy to see you go because you will be one less voice of dissent to deal with.
One less supporter of the Not Another Penny campaign.
If Celtic goes into the doldrums after this season as a result of losing the title to the Ibrox side, people will still fill the ground.
Celtic is a huge club with a huge support.
Manchester United is a behemoth in world football, but they have been in the doldrums since Alex Ferguson left in 2013.
Yet Old Trafford is full week, after week.
The hardcore element of their support is now a minority in comparison to the prawn sandwich brigade.
It is something hardcore United fans consistently bemoan.
Do you want Celtic to end up like that?
Exactly where the board want it?
A corporate entity which makes plenty of money, but loses it’s identity on the field of play, and then by default in the stands?
If you don’t, then I urge you to renew your season ticket.
I then urge you to continue to support the Not Another Penny campaign.
The board has already banked the season ticket money for this season.
And by that, I mean it will just go into the coffers, and a huge chunk of it will go to HM Customs and revenue before it goes anywhere near rebuilding the football squad.
You know that, and I know that.
They won’t invest it in the footballing operation, so what difference does it make if you renew or not?
Believe it or not, you can make more of a difference than you think by renewing.
Because you have the power to decide you’re not showing up to games when you want to.
An empty seat makes no money.
If you don’t occupy it, you’re not in a position to spend or put money in the board’s coffers.
You can use your seat as your voice, as a weapon of choice, whenever you want.
Don’t think twice, renew your season ticket.
They don’t want you in that seat, they want some young twenty-something year old, who has more money than sense occupying that seat instead of you.
Celtic Park needs the continuation of voices of dissent.
If you give your seat up, then you are one less anti-board voice.
They treat you with contempt anyway, just as they’ll treat the next occupier of your seat that way.
You are just a number to them, but by remaining at Celtic Park, you are a number that can force positive change.
If you don’t get the picture by now, I don’t know what else to say.
Its an easy decision.
Take away the pain of having to think about it, and see it from my point of view.
Renew your season ticket.
Don’t think twice about it.
It gives you the power to continue to hit them where it hurts.
So just do it.

Wonder why the waiting list has never been updated in years, makes you wonder.
Play along it’ll not get better in fact it’ll get worse next season.
A bully will just bully till he’s got a burst nose.
Sorry Eric , I think we have no alternative but to boycott season tickets ,this is a war of attrition and we have to make intelligent sacrifice not on a matter of principle but for the greater good , the only thing they respect is money , and the waiting list of vast thousands is propaganda, be brave and stop giving them your money
Totally Che, sometimes you’ve got to hurt the thing you love, and saving Celtic, and truly putting the club before yourself, sadly means not renewing.
I understand what you are saying but I guess it’s going to boil down to the individual. As for the waiting list some bloggers say it doesn’t exist and that it’s just propaganda so that you renew. I believe their is one by how many thousands is anyone’s guess. You also have to consider that times are hard for everyone and the purse strings are getting pulled tighter. Many on said list may no longer be in a position to buy a season book or might look at what’s going on and decide no way or wonderful I have been waiting years. Big decisions to be made for all supporters.
Too many unknowns for you to take such a position Eric. Firstly I’m not sure that fabled waiting list even exists, where were they during the Deila years?. Second, things were no worse then than they are now, so even supposing the list exists and did so then, why would they snap them up now when they didn’t then?.
Renewing is playing into their hands, that’s what they’re really counting on.
If 40000 do not renew, the so called waiting list will be exhausted leaving 25000 empty seats.
Do we dare to carry out the threat?
I just came across this article. I am an avid consumer of fan media but have never read one of your articles before but my interest was peaked given that it was about season tickets. I am sure the writer is a dedicated Celtic fan but the arguments put forward are as ridiculous as they are insulting.
I am on the waiting list as I am now retired and can attend matches where once I was always working. If offered a seat now I would absolutely refuse as failure to renew season tickets or take up a season book is the most positive driver for change.
By the reckoning of this article the only true fans are current season tickets holders with the rest young twenty somethings or corporate elites with bags of disposable income. What nonsense. Where is your evidence?
You argue for change at board room level but those attending Celtic matches should never change with seats being held for decades. The seems exactly the same attitude that this board and previous family dynasties employed.
I am sorry but not buying a pie or football top is easy. The true test of not another penny is when it comes to season ticket renewal. Every fan whether a season ticket holder or on waiting list has their own personal decision to make and that has to be respected. But the rationale that you employ seems a piece of mental gymnastics that allows you to keep your seat while stay maintaining a not another penny stance and slating non season tickets holders is unbelievable.
So next season all books should be renewed because that will show the board that change is required? Is that actually your considered argument?
Utter nonsense.
So we give the board 800 quid and don’t turn up to make a point!!!
Easy for you to say as a non season book holder isn’t it?
Great to give advice when you don’t have any skin in the game.
The only thing that matters is a clear out of the board.
If the Revenue goes down the the board will simply spend less.
All focus should be on removing this board and that means making national news on every sports program on a weekly basis by embarrassing them as the worst ever custodians in the history of the club.
The waiting list has plenty of diehards on it, it’s a fair point about corporate people buying up seats but most the waiting list is full of people just as aware of the situation as those who already have ST’s.
Totally agree mate!
I understand what the author says, but I do take exception on how he describes the “young would-be” Celtic fan “with extra money” that could take up the potential vacant season ticket options. I happen to be 69, and been on the Season Ticket Waiting List since I came back to the UK in 2017 after working and living for most of my life abroad. My biggest goal was always to be able to retire and watch the great Glasgow Celtic as often as possible. So, I have been waiting patiently, and although now diagnosed with Cancer, I am one of those life-long Celtic Fans who deserves a Season Ticket as much as the next Fan. I, for one, hope some pass up their Season Ticket and give others a chance!
No way am I renewing with this board in charge.
Someone is more than welcome to buy my season ticket.
I will take my chances on a game to game basis on getting a ticket.
It’s time the support stood up to these chancers and boycotted the season tickets.
Only way to make a real change.
