So, its the end of an era at Ibrox, Captain Disappointed will leave the stadium John Brown played for once his contract expires at the end of this season.
Now, there’s no doubt that Captain Disappointed will want to leave Ibrox on a high.
But its up to Celtic to ensure his career at Ibrox ends in….well, disappointment!
After 11 seasons, 144 referee aided goals mostly from penalties, and 562 appearances, James Tavernier will finally leave Ibrox.
The only thing that stands between him and title glory at the end of this season is Hearts, and of course, Celtic.
Up to this point, Tavernier has been able to call on the memories of ‘#going for 55’ to fill his otherwise empty medal cabinet.
Well, it has two other medals in it from a Scottish Cup win, and a League Cup win.
Tavernier is up there with the likes of newly promoted St. Johnstone when it comes to trophy wins during his illustrious career at Ibrox.
As a Celtic fan, I would like to thank him sincerely for his contribution to the quadruple treble.
Without his endless dedication to disappointment, none of that would have been possible.
I do genuinely hope than Tavernier gets a testimonial at Ibrox, as I’m sure many Celtic fans would love to attend to show him their gratitude.
I would also like to thank him for providing us with so much entertainment when it came to his duels with Daizen Maeda.

I’ve no doubt Daizen will miss them too.
Captain Disappointment announced his decision to depart Ibrox at the end of this season on Instagram.
Here is his emotional farewell to the Ibrox faithful:
To the fans, My teammates and all the staff at the club. After a lot of thought, I’ve made the decision that this will be my final season at the club.
This hasn’t been an easy decision. This club has been a huge part of my life and my family’s over the past 11 years. It’s given me so much, Both on and off the pitch and from the moment I arrived, I’ve always tried to give everything I had to represent it in the right way.
To have had the honour of being made captain of this club since 2018 is something I will always be incredibly proud of. Leading this team out, Wearing the armband and being trusted in that role has meant more to me than I can properly put into words.
We’ve shared the highs and the lows together and some truly incredible moments along the way. These include lifting the Scottish Cup, League Cup, Our journey to a European final and those unforgettable European nights at Ibrox against Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, where the atmosphere was something I will never forget.
It also includes winning the league title and delivering 55, A moment that meant everything to this club and its supporters and one I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
To all the players I’ve shared the pitch and dressing room with over the years, Thank you. The bonds we’ve built, The battles we’ve been through and the memories we’ve created are what make this game so special.
To the staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes every single day, Thank you for everything you’ve done for me and for the team. Your support often goes unseen, but it has never gone unappreciated.
And to the fans, Your support home and away, Through every high and every difficult moment, has meant more than I can ever fully express. You are the heart and soul of this club and it has been a privilege to play in front of you.
This isn’t the end just yet. There is still a season to finish and we are fully focused on pushing for the league title. I will continue to give absolutely everything, As I always have until the very last day.
While I feel the time is right for a new challenge, My focus right now is on finishing this season the right way, together.
Thank you for everything this club has given me. It has been the greatest honour of my career to represent it and to lead it.
This club will always be a part of me, and I will always be a part of it. Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger.
I’d imagine there isn’t a dry eye in the Ibrox house after that!
He will be missed by each and every one of us Celtic fans.
I also have no doubt that Andrew Dallas, David Dickinson, John Beaton, and Steven McLean will miss him desperately when he goes.
One thing they knew for sure was that when they awarded a penalty to their favourite side, Tav-Pen was almost guaranteed to score it.
They must be very worried about who is going to fill Captain Disappointed’s boots once he departs?

Because lets be honest here, those are humongously big boots to fill.
Tavernier scored penalties for fun.
I’m not sure there’s someone at Ibrox now who could score them like he did.
Well, I’d wish him all the best for the future, but I can’t.
I have no doubt that his penalty taking abilities will be much appreciated in League One somewhere for another couple of seasons.
If Celtic wanted any more incentive to win this title and to ensure a trophyless season again at Ibrox, then Captain Disappointed’s announcement should be more than enough.
Its up to Martin O’Neill to ensure he remains what he’s always been.
Disappointed.
