What is it with these peepul? They really do lose their shit over the most ridiculous things over Ibrox way.
Kris Boyd was in the Sun yesterday, moaning on about the fact that the current crop of Ibrox players just don’t get it.
He believes that winning the title doesn’t really matter to them.
Despite Danny Röhl insisting his players do not have a mentality issue, the village idiot believes it is 100% a mentality issue that has caused the wheels to come off their title challenge.
Which is as good as dead now.
Before I go any further here, it’s time – once and for all – for everybody affiliated with the club to realise that the current entity is not, and never will be, what the dead club was.
Give up the fucking ghost.
Seriously.
14 years in, and they still don’t get it.
They still cling onto past glories, while choosing to be blind to the fact that before the old club died, it cheated it’s way to practically every trophy it won in the 21st century.
The title they won in 1997 was probably the last legitimate title they won.
Even at that, Gavin Masterson’s limitless overdraft facility to Ibrox financed the majority of those title wins.
Nothing they ever did was done without help from somewhere else, or with someone else’s money.
The dominance of Rangers 1872 is a myth.
Debunked time and time again by people like us in Celtic fan media.
What you see today at Ibrox is a bloated squad of players who don’t give a flying fuck about the club’s “past glories”, or the “winning mentality” that “used to be at Ibrox”.
We constantly hear shite about players like John Brown and Richard Gough, who supposedly left it all out there in every game they played.
Yeah right, more like left the fucking boot in in every game they played!
I’m not going to excuse my language in this article because to be quite honest, I’m sick of hearing this shite from ex-Ibrox players like Boyd.
The current crop of Ibrox players is a reflection of what that club has been since 2012.

A piss poor attempt at mimicking a myth.
Its as simple as that.
The very definition of chasing a myth refers to the act of pursuing an unattainable goal, a false ideal, or an object that does not exist, often resulting in wasted time, effort, and resources.
That there, sums up the Ibrox club in a nutshell.
The object that no longer exists is the dead club.
So when Boyd is wondering if whether or not playing for the Ibrox side – and winning or losing – matters enough to the current crop of players?
I’ll answer that one for him, it doesn’t matter to them.
They don’t get it.
They never will.
How could they?
They’re playing for a team that has won the same amount of trophies St. Johnstone has won since 2014.
St. Johnstone spent about £100,000 to achieve that, they’ve spent way north of £100 million to achieve the same thing.
Their current group of players are more concerned about their over-bloated wage packets than winning trophies.
At the risk of repeating myself, the current Ibrox entity is a victim of the need to pursue a myth.
Unless they give up the ghost, they are doomed to repeat this cycle of self-destruction over, and over again.
Call it Karma, call it what you like, but mimicry of the dead club is their downfall.
What I found mind blowing from Boyd was the criticism of Nasser Djiga for the crime of engaging in sportsmanship.
Yes, I understand that this particular concept is alien to people like him, and the people who support that club, but still…
As soon as the going got tough, the Rangers players disappeared.
The fans will be hurting this morning, there’s no doubt about it, but you wonder if the players feel that way as well.
I think that comes from within. Sitting there stretching-off the Hearts team when they’ve got cramp.
I mean, what are you doing? Seriously. What are you doing?
If you lose a game of football, it’s bad enough.
It was Nasser Djiga – I get it, you might have friends on the Hearts team but you’re standing there after the game talking when you know that’s the title over and you’re best mates with the opposition players.
I’m sorry, as I said fans will be the ones hurting and then they’ll be angry and rightly so because they’ve seen their team blow up again.
But I would question the players as well, does it really mean that much to them?
I’m not so sure. I’m not so sure.
The crime of sportsmanship?
Helping a fellow player when he has cramp?
Something you see game in, game out, across the world of football.
But at the Ibrox club its a crime.
Strictly forbidden.
If it was John Brown, he’d probably have got in the players face while frothing at the mouth.

And talking to a fellow player at the end of a game?
That’s just not on.
Throw smiling into the equation and that’s close to a sackable offence.
Its just as well for Djiga he’s only on loan from Wolves.
God help any of them if they so much as shake a Celtic players hand next Sunday!
Just when you think you’ve heard it all from that twat Boyd, he comes out with this shite?
The way he finishes his comments sums up everything that’s wrong with that club:
I don’t think, personally, that it means much to players.
They’ll come out and they’ll do their interviews, they’ll say what they need to say.
This is no disrespect to the players that come into our game, into Rangers from overseas, but the Scottish players – they might not have the quality that some of the foreign players have on the pitch but what they have is a mentality, a sense of pride within Scotland that you don’t want to let your own group of fans down.
They live and breathe it for the rest of their life.
I look at this team yesterday. There wasn’t one Scottish player in that starting 11 for Rangers – not one.
As soon as their time comes to leave the football club, that’s them. House packed up and away they go.
There are a lot of Rangers fans hurting this morning and rightly so. The players will say they will be but I’m not sure they will be.
And the truth shall set you free!
The reason they’re failing as a club, and the reason nobody cares is because there wasn’t single Scottish player in the starting line up.
No underlying tone of racism in that comment at all.
I rest my case.
They are destined to forever eat, sleep, and repeat this cycle.
If the Americans couldn’t even pull them out of it, then nobody can.
And nobody ever will as long as they cling to coat tails of a dead club.

Now , which member of the Loyal SMSM will admit to what you have just said Eric is absolutely correct and true and express themselves in public totally agreeing with you as to the reasons theRangers will never be alike as before liquidation ? One of the army of ‘sport scoops ‘ the Daily Record employs maybe? A change to the editorial policy of that rag by saying until theRangers clumpany and supporters finally admit that the heavy stone weights around their necks from the previous set up that are suffocating every single aspect of the new entity especially attempting to be successful on the pitch are removed then theRangers will be collecting bronze medals…at best ? I suspect nobody will attempt such a thing because his/ her job would automatically become redundant ! Everyone and everything has to change with the times or gets left behind . Their culture and traditions and attitudes belong in an old oil drum and set alight …burned into ashes . But there is still big money to be made from it all so the petrol and matches will have to wait a bit longer …but is coming . Getting rid of an ideology is a totally different ball game sadly .
They thought they had turned a corner when Derek Johnston done the half time draw at Iboaks and finished his rant with ” No Surrender ” and they lapped it up like a tramp eating a bag of chips.
Boyd never spoke to anyone after games was because he had no friends elsewhere. I hope he carries on doing what he’s doing until The Sun wake up to his racism etc he isn’t known as the village idiot for nothing!!!
Our problem isn’t the old ragers or the new version , it’s Desmond and his cabal corporate greed and austerity combined with complacency, how out of touch are they new merchandise at a time like this speaks volumes about these parasites. Stop giving them your money or you are complicit
I haven`t a great lot of time for Boyd but to be called a racist foe stating a simple truth is getting a bit jocular. When is this Woke culture going to end? It is nothing less than suppression of free speech. Now it has reached so-called Celtic sites. How can you be racist for claiming that there aren`t enough Scotsmen (I would assume he meant r4ngers fans) in the team? Is it not a Scottish team? I would rather that Celtic had more Celtic fans playing for them than those who never even heard of Celtic before signing. and if that means Scotsmen then that would be fine. Is Steve Clarke racist for twisting the rules to find players for Scotland however tenuous the fact?
Was James McCLean racist when he pointed out that the Irish team didn`t have as
many Irish names in it as those teams of the past had? He was only stating a fact.
There is no doubt that Celtic and R4ngers were all the better for having fans playing for them and you won`t ever get that again, simply because of the amount of players with no affection for them. The Boys Brigades and Boys Guilds certainly produced
more players with heart than the foreign brigades and if anyone thinks that is racist,
then it`s time for a lie-down.
I suppose from now on in that it will be racist to boast that Celtic won the European
Cup with a Scottish manager and players all born within a 30 mile radius of Glasgow.
Jesus wept now we have a boomer howling about wokeness.
Woke is just another name for being kind to each other.
You object to that? I wonder why.
Ah the 70s when you could freely express your racism, homophobia etc by name calling without sanction and how the anti-woke brigade miss those good old days.
Go for a lie down ?
You are projecting.
To insinuate that ‘foreign players’ ,don’t care enough to do their jobs properly for Sevco is racist or more to the point xenophobic. Does that apply to managers to ?coaches ? Owners ? They all need to be Scottish eh ?
Tell me can they all be Catholic Scots or Muslim Scots or BAME Scots or do they all have to be white and Protestant Scots ?
Jesus these anti-woke types make me sick.
Good article Eric
