Craig Bellamy back in the running to take the reigns at Celtic?
In a previous article of mine, I described Bellamy as the Wild Card of the potential candidates.
He gives me Lennon 2010 vibes but to be fair with far more of a coaching pedigree than our former Manager had at that point.
Bellamy has had as much praise for his press conferences as his football.
He talks with passion, a refreshing honesty and a steely determination in every interview.
Many feel his Wales side play with the exact same traits.
There are plenty who will think he, perhaps like Keane, does not have the CV to warrant being shortlisted to manage one of the world’s biggest club names.
The Celtic job, particularly this Summer, is massive.
It offers a chance at Champions League football, and domestic trophies.
60,000 supporters every home game.
Packed, raucous away trips every other week.
The job offers no safety net, no comfort zone, however.
It’s WIN or BUST.
I reckon that is the sort of environment Craig Bellamy would fancy – big time.
Whilst he has spoken of his loyalty to the Welsh cause admirably, all managers have big ambitions.
Simply, Celtic is a far bigger fish to fry than the Wales gig.
We know it and so will Craig.
But whilst we discuss the selling point of the Manager’s position at Celtic – what’s the attraction of Craig Bellamy for us?
If Robbie Keane has a C.V short of the required level, then the same argument could be pointed of course, at Bellamy.
He has not won a League title, nor a domestic trophy of any kind.
He has a failed World Cup bid behind him with Wales.
So if everything is based on purely a footballing merit, then Keane is surely ahead of Bellamy?
I think if fans were to vote however, it would be the latter preferred over the Irishman.
Many miss the rock n roll fast paced football that was deployed under Ange Postecoglou.
It would be more likely to resemble that under Craig Bellamy than it would Robbie Keane.
Personality wise I think he would be a star fit at Celtic, fans would gravitate to him with ease.
He is another name on the list apparently, do you feel he has any chance of the job really?
Let me know in the comments!
I will be discussing in more detail on The Bhoycie Bus later today.
Keep Your Eyes on The Board.
It feels like they w*nkers running our club can’t stand the fans being happy for too long
I’m confused. Martin O’Neill has proven multiple times that he is a winner …a head coach who knows what’s what about all football situations…a champion head football coach. A master manager/coach / communicator ! If he was retained by the Celtic board rather than Wilfried Nancy there would have been more than an obvious chance Celtic would have won the league cup under his guidance and thus the Treble! My point being is that Martin should be the only person involved in being the full-time Celtic head coach if he wants the job ! Has he been asked specifically if he wants the position ? If he has been asked and said yes then nobody else should be in any conversation about the vacancy ! It’s a yes or no question ! If it’s a yes then every aspect of next season begins ..right now ! No more delays or conjecture or guesswork . The more there is of the silence from the board tells me Martin O’Neill has not been specifically offered the job . Talking to Robbie Keane backs it up futrther . Even if he accepts it for another season then that would give the board ample time to get their act together to recruit someone with the skillset and abilities of Martin O’Neill for the job on a full time 100% basis .
