Another Window. Another exit rumour. Same old Summer.
Another Window, another headline.
And it’s an exit. Of course it is.
The latest is Benjamin Nygren – Tottenham top the queue, Brighton and Bournemouth also sniffing around, with a €30m price tag we won’t be budging on.
I’ll say this – selling Nygren for that figure makes total business sense.
Course it does.
Good player. Good attitude. Good sell.
£30m-odd for a lad we’ve developed is exactly the kind of trade this Board built its whole identity around.
Where is the rumour that actually EXCITES us? Where is the arrival?
Every single link circulating around this football club is an outgoing.
Nygren to the Premier League.
Player after player tipped for the door.
Even the noise around the backroom and coaching side is about who’s leaving, who’s unsettled, who’s off – never who we are bringing IN.
Scroll your timeline.
Go on.
How many Celtic stories this week were about recruitment, and how many were about departures?
Exactly.
The Golden Ticket is 60 days away and we are getting weaker, not stronger.
Our Champions League qualifiers are roughly SIXTY days away now.
Sixty.
And everything coming out of this club right now is about cashing in, not building.
How many serious contenders go into their Champions League qualifiers actively looking like a WEAKER squad than the one that finished the last campaign?
How many do that whilst sitting on the cash reserves we are sitting on?
How many call THAT a plan?
We are about to find out.
Again.
Sell him. Fine. But then what?
I’m not even against selling Nygren.
Take the €30m. Genuinely.
But money in the door is only good business if it goes back OUT the other side and onto the pitch.
Profits are put before players.
Balance Sheets before Team Sheets.
That’s the model, and we’ve watched it play out Summer after Summer until the qualifiers roll around and we’re caught short – again – wondering where it all went.
I’d love, just once, to refresh the page and see the headline the other way.
A signing.
An arrival.
Someone oven ready for a tie that actually matters.
There’s still time, granted.
The Window is the Window and it can move fast when a club genuinely wants it to.
But everything tells me we’ll do the selling part with ruthless efficiency and leave the buying part until it’s far, far too late – just in time to ask a side that’s lost its best bits to go and win us the Golden Ticket against teams who’ve been on their pre-season for weeks.
What a mess this could become.
Celtic PLC’s specialist subject – banking the cheque and stalling on the reinvestment.
Sell. Delay. Repeat.
