The pressure on the Celtic board is no longer confined to angry social-media posts or isolated voices of frustration. It is growing, becoming more organised and increasingly difficult for those in power to dismiss.
The Celtic Supporters Association, the Celtic Trust and the Green Brigade have all issued fierce criticism of the club’s leadership. Different groups representing different sections of the support are now expressing the same fundamental concern: Celtic are being badly managed, supporters are being ignored and meaningful change is urgently required.
CELTIC BOARD PRESSURE IS BECOMING IMPOSSIBLE TO IGNORE
The criticism now covers almost every major area of the club’s operation.
Supporters have condemned painfully slow transfer activity, the absence of a permanent Head of Football Operations and the continuing uncertainty surrounding Celtic’s long-term leadership.
Dermot Desmond, Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay are increasingly becoming the focus of the anger. Some supporter groups have gone as far as demanding that Nicholson and McKay resign or be removed from their positions.
There are also accusations that Celtic treat supporters as little more than cash cows. Fans are constantly targeted with ticket promotions, new merchandise and commercial campaigns, yet the same urgency appears to disappear when the playing squad or club infrastructure requires investment.
HOW CAN THE CELTIC BOARD CONTINUE LIKE THIS?
The “Not Another Penny” campaign and the boycott witnessed during the Middlesbrough friendly demonstrate that supporters are prepared to take action.
Empty seats send a message that carefully worded statements cannot conceal.
The Celtic board may believe this anger will eventually disappear. They may assume that a few victories will quieten the support and allow normal service to resume.
That would be a dangerous miscalculation.
This is no longer frustration caused by one failed transfer or one disappointing result. It is a collapse of trust between a significant section of the Celtic support and those responsible for running the club.
The board’s instinct appears to be silence. They avoid meaningful engagement, offer vague explanations and behave as though supporters should simply accept whatever decisions are made.
WILL CELTIC SUPPORTERS BE TREATED WITH CONTEMPT AGAIN?
The demands are becoming clearer and stronger.
Supporters want structural reform, improved football leadership, proper investment and genuine accountability from Desmond and the directors.
The Celtic board now has a choice. It can acknowledge the scale of the anger, communicate honestly and begin rebuilding trust. Alternatively, it can continue burying its head in the sand, dismissing legitimate concerns and treating loyal supporters with contempt.
Every silence, every delay and every excuse increases the Celtic board pressure.
Supporters are asking how those in power can possibly continue operating this way.
The more disturbing question is whether the board even cares.
People just need to chill. Never seen such a large amount of bed wetting, impatient, clueless and contradictory support in my life. Celtic support have just become a group of glory hunting spoilt group, a section are not even there to support football to to use the club to push there own political narratives.
I support Celtic Football Club and go to watch football and players will be coming and players will be leaving. Still 6 weeks of the transfer window.
Celtic support complain if they sell assets and when they do not sell assets, the complain we spend too much on a player and spend too little, they complain we dont play youth players yet complain if we dont buy players instead of playing youth players.
Regardless of what happens idiots will never be happy.
Everyone is singing from the same hymn book , by the end of the transfer window, Celtic may have as much as £160/170m in the bank , after outgoings , can you imagine how long they can stay in their Nuclear Bunker with plenty of provisions before it’s OK to come out again hoping that everyone will have forgotten, it’s going to be a long hot Summer & Winter for supporters , you would think that they believe giving up on the title and cups for a season or two would be good for the game in Scotland , The Trainers & co who hold major shares need to step up , for the sake of supporters sanity , we can only hope . HH
It’s nothing but a scam ,the club belongs to the supporters, but we allow Odious Desmond and his malignant junta of corporate greed and austerity fc by giving them our money , yet we get treated like shit , we will come to point when even the happy clappers will say enough is enough, when Mcgregor and Maeda and Engels all leave and Martin O’Neil is thrown under the bus ,then perhaps they will find the courage to stand up instead of swallowing every piece of shit they force feed us . Stop giving them your money or you are complicit in the destruction of our club
