James Tavernier to Celtic? With reported interest in Alistair Johnston, we do need a back up right-back, don’t we?

James Tavernier is back in the news today, with the Daily Record running an ‘exclusive’ on Danny Röhl’s part in the Ibrox captain’s acrimonious end to his time in Govan.

It’s an amusing read, to say the least.

Because at times, Röhl is very vague on certain aspects of his story.

At one point, he isn’t sure whether he messaged or called Tavernier to tell him he wouldn’t be starting that night.

But from reading the whole story, it’s clear to see that Tavernier didn’t like Röhl, and that’s pretty much all there is to this story.

The funny thing about it is that Tavernier is now a free agent without a club.

We need a right back.

Tavernier has massive experience of the game in Scotland.

He’s a precision penalty taker.

And he can hit a free kick too.

All components we require at Celtic.

He’s be the perfect back up for Alistair Johnston.

And here’s the clincher, Tavernier wouldn’t be a loser at Celtic!

It would be a no brainer.

He’d finally get to win those trophies he so desperately spent his time trying to win over a 10 year period at Ibrox.

For the Celtic board, he wouldn’t cost them anything, which they’d absolutely love!

Alright, alright, I’m only kidding!

I wouldn’t want Tav-pen next or near our club.

His loser mentality would just drag us down.

Funnily enough though, it’s not something you’d out past our board if they were trying to get a deal done on the cheap.

Considering the way they’ve been behaving over the entire summer, going after Tavernier is something you could conceivably see them attempting to do.

As for Tav-Pen, the only reason his retirement party went down like a fart in a spacesuit was because he expected to be retiring a title winner.

A couple of weeks previous to that dead rubber against Hibs, he probably believed he’d be retiring in that fashion.

But Danny Röhl stole that dream from him with his poor management style.

Then he expected him to sit on the bench for his last hurrah?

Röhl was having a laugh.

It was bad enough that Celtic had ended his dream at Celtic Park, but for his manager to kill it off completely in his last home game?

That was too much for serial loser, Tav-Pen.

But hey, he’s a free agent now.

I’d wish him all the best, but you know I can’t.
