Celtic have agreed a deal with Manchester United defender Tyler Blackett on-loan subject to a medical at Paradise.
The 21-year-old joins at a time when the departure of defender Virgil Van Dijk is increasingly likely.
The deal involves the England Under-21 international moving to the Glasgow side for a season-long loan as reported by CelticFC.
Blackett signed a new contract with Manchester united back in February which runs until the summer of 2017.
He has made 11 appearances including several at the beginning of last season as United battled with a host of injuries to a number of their starting defenders.
The defender follows follow the footsteps of Jonny Evans out of Old Trafford before Tuesday’s deadline day. Evans is close to completing his move to another Premier league side, West Brom and was one of the players we identified as a possible target for Celtic.
In his brief appearances for Van Gaal’s Reds, he has operated in a 3-5-2 playing on the left-hand side of a back three and has also featured at left-back. This versatility could be useful for Deila as he regularly rotates his squad to limit the possibility of any injuries.
