Neil Lennon says he is “loath” to see Craig Gordon leave Celtic, with the goalkeeper currently out of favour at Parkhead.
The Scot has found himself playing second fiddle to Fraser Forster between the sticks this season.
Although Gordon started in Celtic’s 2-0 defeat to CFR Cluj in midweek, he lost his place again on Sunday, as the Hoops won 2-0 at home to Hibernian.
There have been rumours linking Gordon with a move away from Parkhead, in order to earn more playing time.
Speaking after Celtic’s victory over Hibs, Lennon provided an update on the 36-year-old’s future, saying he wants to keep him at the club:
I had a wee chat with Craig on Saturday.
He’s a player I’d be loath to let go or want to see go out the door because he’s a quality goalkeeper.
Fraser is the number one currently and if anything happened to him then Craig is a ready-made replacement to step in.
From a selfish point of view I want him to stay. He might have his own principles and want to play himself.
It’s a situation not of Craig’s making. He’s a great pro and I get the fact he might want to play more games.

Gordon’s current frustration is understandable, but he can also have no qualms with being second choice.
Forster has been in superb form for Celtic and he is the club’s undisputed No.1 at the moment.
It would be hard begrudge Gordon a move away, given the opportunity to play more football.
