Everton ‘closing in’ on Celtic target Branthwaite

Everton are reportedly ‘closing in’ on the signing of highly rated Celtic target Jarrad Branthwaite for a fee in the region of £750k. 

The 17-year-old has been linked with a move to Parkhead a number of times this season, with head of football operations Nick Hammond having scouted the defender in person earlier in the campaign. 

However according to the Daily Record, Celtic look set to miss out on the Carlisle United defender with Everton ‘closing in’ on a £750k move for him.

Missing out on Branthwaite will certainly be a blow for Celtic given how highly rated he is, and how he would have added to the number of emerging talents at Parkhead. 

Furthermore Everton look set to be signing him for what could prove to be a bargain fee, given how many had expected Branthwaite to leave Carlisle this month for a fee over £1million.
