Former Kilmarnock defender Alex Bruce has praised Boli Bolingoli despite the left-back seemingly being set for a summer departure, and his comments raise questions about whether Celtic are right to offload him.

Speaking to Football Insider, Bruce shared his thoughts on the news that the Hoops will look to cash in on him in the summer window, and he praised the left-back’s ability.

He’s very, very quick and he’s very strong – I know that from playing against him. He does catch the eye, he’s big and athletic but obviously he’s got competition for places and everyone will want to play.

Bruce’s praise of Boli does pose the question of whether Celtic are making a slightly rash decision with him this summer.

Yes, he has fallen out of favour since the turn of the year, with Greg Taylor now having established himself as the first-choice left-back, but he has clearly made a positive impression on opposition players judging from Bruce’s comments.

Furthermore, a surprising statistic Celtic released earlier this month showed his importance to the Hoops’ attacks, as he was joint-fourth with Odsonne Edouard with regards to the number of key passes provided in the league this season.

Therefore, it still appears as though he has a lot to offer Celtic in the future, and his struggles this year may just have been a slight blip in his first season with the Hoops.

Do you think Celtic should sell Boli this summer?

Yes

No

Had this decision come around this time next year after a poor second season at the club, then it might be more understandable.
