Celtic line up move for Barry Douglas

Celtic are lining up move for Leeds United left-back Barry Douglas, according to a report from Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports.

The Hoops are, as per Joseph’s report, looking to ship Boli Bolingoli out of the club after he let the club down recently, and as such, they have put together a list of options to replace the full-back and Douglas is seemingly at the top of it.

The 30-year-old hasn’t played in Scotland since his spell with Dundee United ended in 2013 and he’s since had successful spells with Lech Poznan in Poland, Konyaspor in Turkey and both Wolves and Leeds in England.

The Glasgow native could find himself on the move this summer as Leeds prepare for their first season back in the top flight of English football and it looks like Celtic could be his next destination.

A transfer to Celtic would allow Douglas to move back to Glasgow but it remains to be seen if he’d be interested in joining the Hoops given that he now has an opportunity of playing Premier League football for the first time.

If Douglas does arrive, it will be interesting to see if the 30-year-old immediately comes in as first-choice of if he’d find himself backing up Greg Taylor.

In fact, the player might want assurances of game time before making a move back to Scotland as it’s unlikely that he’ll want to be sitting on the bench at this stage of his career.
