Celtic look set to be active on Deadline Day, with Neil Lennon looking to add to his squad before the midnight shutoff.
One player who could be coming through the door at Celtic Park is West Ham winger and boyhood Hoops fan Robert Snodgrass.
According to Sky Sports, Celtic have submitted a loan offer for the Hammers outcast, with a left-back and centre-back also on Lennon’s wishlist.
The 33-year-old, who was born in Glasgow, has been plying his trade for several English sides since leaving Livingston for Leeds United in 2008.
The set-piece specialist could be about to head back up north, though, and we feel it could be a great piece of business if the Hoops can get it over the line.
Snodgrass would bring plenty of experience to Lennon’s squad, and even though he is edging towards the end of his career, Hoops fans have seen with club captain Scott Brown that age is just a number.
The wide man netted five Premier League goals last season and also provided the same amount of assists in the top flight in just 17 starts, via WhoScored, an impressive return along with an average of 1.9 key passes, 1.6 shots and 1.2 dribbles per game.
Celtic may also take inspiration from Tottenham’s recent loan move for Gareth Bale.
Bale and Snodgrass may well be on another universe financially, with the latter earning £40,000-a-week compared to the former’s £600,000-a-week wage packet, but the two may have more in common than first meets the eye.
Both wingers, the pair have been regulars for their respective countries in recent years, however, in recent months, they have failed to break into their club sides, which eventually resulted in Bale’s Bernabeu exit.
Bale has made no secret his love for Tottenham, whereas Snodgrass has also had no issues with sharing his feelings towards Celtic.
Spurs look set to reap the rewards of Bale’s presence when fully fit, and if Celtic can secure Snodgrass’ services, they too may also be very happy with their summer business.
