Ronny Deila is familiar with talented Norwegian players having developed Martin Odegaard before his move to Real Madrid from Stromsgodest and is looking at another potential young star.
Kristoffer Ajer has already caught the attention of European clubs such as PSG, Arsenal, Liverpool and Roma, and at just 17 he has already made 47 club appearances, scoring 13 goals and recording five assists.
The midfielder also captained his side, IK Start at just 16-years-old in Tippeligaen, becoming the youngest club captain in the Norwegian top flight.
He is also versatile and can play in any of the three central midfield roles, which is a key attribute for the Norwegian who stands at 6’5.
Former Celtic defender Vidar Riseth has backed Deila to get the best from Ajer, just like he did with Odegaard when they worked together.

As quoted by the Herald Scotland , Riseth said:
It is the same with Martin [Odegaard] at Real Madrid. We all know his talent and we can see how much potential he has but it is not always so straightforward when you are at a top club.
One thing about Ronny is that he has a good track record of getting the best out of young talent and this is probably the right time for Kristoffer to think of going to the next level.
Ronny is the kind of manager who can get the best out of him without putting him under too much pressure.
Ajer’s next move could be crucial for his career, as Deila’s prodigy Odegaard has found out at Real Madrid.
The 17-year-old has stuttered at Castilla and struggled to adapt to life in Spain following the hype that surrounded his move.

But Riseth believes Celtic could be an ideal destination for the Ajer, given Deila’s track record.
His next move can be so important and a coach like Ronny who is progressive and who has a strong record getting the best out of young players would be a good move for him.
It is difficult to predict at this age that Kristoffer is one of those players who can help Celtic get to that level but he certainly has the potential to do it.
Start are in a position where they want to sell him for financial reasons. They have struggled financially, even though they managed to stay in the top flight last season, but they are bottom of the league and the money from his sale is needed.
Ajer began his week-long trial at Celtic on Wednesday and should anything permanent follow, it could prove to be a major coup for Deila.
