I am no stranger to controversy and I am not about to start now. I feel the treatment of Ronny Deila is horrendous. However, I do agree with some that say he needs to step up and remind everyone who he is and why he is the Celtic manager.
Wednesday night’s game was portrayed as make or break for Ronny Deila. Well according to the fans anyway.
Celtic started like a house on fire like we usually do, pummelling Aberdeen inside the first 25 minutes but to no avail. Then out of absolutely nowhere Johnny Hayes produced a wonder strike which surprise, surprise, catches Craig Gordon out at his near post.
As if that wasn’t enough our Bhoys froze and were stunned when the marvelous zonal marking that the club seems to install didn’t work and Kenny McLean ran unchallenged from the edge of the box to head towards goal for Simon Church to literally fling his knee at the ball and send Aberdeen 2-0 up.
I was watching the game in disbelief.

The heads went down and never recovered until the 93rd minute when Griffiths pulled one back.
The Green Brigade held a banner up after the Malmo game – “Gutless in Malmo, clueless in the boardroom.”
Thoughts on the banner on display today at Celtic Park from the Green brigade. Do you agree with their message? pic.twitter.com/4FhgdX5orl

And that is the problem right now, and for the last two or three managers, it is clear to see. The board will not fully back the manager, he is nothing but a mere puppet (or muppet) ready to take the fall when things go wrong.
Now fans are talking about no passion from the manager. These are the same ones that were complaining about Ronny doing the Ronny Roar after celebrating a 1-0 victory away to Motherwell in October?
We have lost three games in the league this season so far, we are ahead by three points and have a vastly superior goal difference. There would be fans of certain other teams be dying to be in the so-called crisis Celtic are in just now.
The performances haven’t been up to scratch in the past two games I certainly understand that but where were the Boo Bhoys when in January when we were unbeaten? We scored 19 goals and only conceded three? I think they were the same ones who were pretty confident of how we were playing? Yes? No? Maybe? I don’t know anymore.
Ronny does have passion, he does have class. Celtic are the biggest club he has ever managed and the pressures are high even if that may not be coming from his bosses the pressures are intense from fans. What he needs to do is go back to basics, bring his own touch back to the team, the fight the grit and determination. I am defending him now but in my heart I know he will only have to the end of the season – but do not sack him now.

Fans are very fickle and I understand that the manager will be at the forefront of the abuse, however, there are some very highly paid individuals in that side who know what their jobs are and I am meaning from the players on the park to the men in the boardroom.
A defeat is hard to take at the best of times but when it’s done in the manner of the last two the reactions are understandable. Our fans pay their hard earned money to follow and support the side, and it’s about time something was given back, and half arsed performances from all involved have to stop.
Just remember all of you shouting for change and for Ronny to walk, one man won’t change this. A full shake up will be required.
