Despite making several great signings this summer, Brendan Rodgers has revealed he wanted to do further business before the window slammed shut, according to the Scotsman.
Moussa Dembele, Kolo Toure, Scott Sinclair, Dorus de Vries and Cristian Gamboa all arrived at Celtic Park this summer, but Rodgers was eager to recruit a creative midfielder as well.
With Celtic progressing into the group stages of the Champions League, perhaps another body in the squad would’ve been useful to compete on all fronts but it wasn’t to be.
Despite missing out on a midfield playmaker, Rodgers was very happy with his side’s summer business.

I wanted to bring in another creative midfield player to support the boys we have here, but I will never bring in anyone for the sake of bringing in a player.
It has to be the right player, has to be the right profile, otherwise you waste time, money and energy.
We tried everything we could to get the right quality of player, but the players were not available and you can’t get a player if a club doesn’t want to sell them or loan them.
I am delighted with the players we have here.
One of the players Celtic were reportedly interested in was Everton’s James McCarthy, but the former Hamilton midfielder requires surgery on a groin injury which put an end to any move.
