Chelsea’s Charly Musonda has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in recent weeks, with Celtic reportedly being one of numerous clubs to be interested in signing him.
The youngster has yet to feature for Antonio Conte’s first-team due to being out on-loan at Spanish side Real Betis early last season, leading to speculation that his time at the English champions will shortly be coming to an end.
French website Foot Mercato reported that Musonda wants to remain at the club and will be given an opportunity to break into the Premier League champions squad.
The source close to the 21-year-old Belgian said:
Charly will stay at Chelsea. The club believes a lot in him, and this season Charly has only one thing in mind: accomplish one of his dreams that is to play in the club that welcomed him and trained as of his 15 years.
The coach has a lot of confidence in him and the representatives of the club too. He is in negotiations with the club and there are some details to negotiate, but in principle Charly will sign a good contract with Chelsea in the weeks to come, a deal that will show how Chelsea believes in him.
Charly will play for Chelsea next season, not all games of course, but he will have a chance and will be part of the group. He is determined to make his debut in his training club, and he is confident that he will not leave in Chelsea transfer or loan.
After the arrival of Jonny Hayes and Kundai Benyu, Rodgers revealed he was looking looking to sign one more player of high quality, possibly before the Hoops’ Champions League qualifier against Linfield in Belfast.
The Scottish treble-winners continue on their pre-season tour, with a trip to Dublin on the cards, where they will face Shamrock Rovers at Tallaght Stadium on Saturday July 8.
