Brendan Rodgers has ruled out the possibility of free-agent midfielder Yaya Toure joining Celtic this month.

Speaking to the Evening Times, Rodgers did confirm that he’s looking at bringing in a few more players before the transfer window closes but Toure isn’t one of his targets.

He said:

We hope to do some more business if we can but there’s nothing to add to the speculation. Yaya Toure? Well, his brother’s here but he’s not one we’re looking at.

The links to Toure emerged earlier this week and the player himself said he would be happy to sit down for talks with the Scottish champions, but it appears that Celtic have other targets in mind.

Yaya’s older brother, Kolo Toure, ended his playing career with the Bhoys and is now part of the club’s coaching staff but it appears that his younger sibling will not follow in his footsteps by signing for Celtic.
