Defender Filip Benkovic has shown his appreciation for his season on loan at Parkhead.
The 21-year-old was bought by Leicester City in the summer of 2018 but was promptly shipped off to Celtic on loan for the 18/19 season in order to get some first-team minutes under his belt.
Benkovic was a regular under Brendan Rodgers specifically and has thanked the club for the opportunity.
Speaking about his time at Celtic, as reported by Inside Futbol, he said:
Overall I’m very satisfied and I appreciate Celtic giving me a chance to play – and in Europe as well.
Benkovic went on to explain how he did not think that the pressure was too much for him. Last season at Celtic, the Hoops were trying to top what they achieved the season before, which was far more than just winning the domestic title.
That was OK for me, I was calm in the head having so much pressure at Celtic, but I enjoyed every game.
Celtic managed to secure the Premiership, the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup – with the Croatian defender playing a huge role in their success.
Benkovic is returning to Leicester City for the 2019/20 season and after the season he has had with Celtic, he will be hoping to get a place in Rodgers’ side or he could be facing another loan spell.
