Two second half goals, from Mohammed Elyounoussi and James Forrest, were ultimately enough to down a well organised St. Mirren side and help Celtic remain top of the Ladbrokes Premiership.
A tight first half saw little in the way of chances with Jim Goodwin’s men not giving Celtic any real space in the final third.
Christopher Jullien was the main threat for the hosts, firstly heading over at near post from a corner and having another header cleared off the line.
As half-time approached, Forrest rattled the near post but couldn’t break the deadlock.
Minutes after half-time though the goal came.
Odsonne Edouard’s side-foot effort from the edge of the box crashed off the woodwork with Elyounoussi eventually tapping home after Ryan Christie’s rebound was blocked.
Fresh off the back of signing a new deal at Paradise, Forrest bagged a goal to mark the occasion as he cut inside and finished with a low left-foot shot from inside the box.
A tremendous sliding block saw Elyounoussi denied a second with Edouard also firing a great chance well over.
However, Celtic were able to move the ball around the pitch well and see out another three points.
