Neil Lennon has revealed contract talks with Nir Bitton are “on-going” amid interest in the midfielder from the Premier League.

Bitton has been linked with a move to Burnley in January, with a fee in the region of £1million being suggested given how his current deal is set to expire next summer.

However according to the Daily Record, Lennon has revealed that he wants to tie the versatile Bitton down to a new deal prior to the winter window and talks are currently “on-going.”

We don’t want him to go, we want him to stay. So, talks are on-going. Do we want it sorted before January? Yeah. We don’t want him to run down his contract, for sure.

He’s made indications he would like to stay and that’s what we want too, so we’ll see how that pans out. Nir’s happy here and we’re hoping we’ll get a positive resolution to that as we go along.
