Former Aberdeen striker Noel Whelan has fired a warning at Jordon Ibe amid interest from Celtic, and his comments suggest it could be last chance saloon for the winger if he completes a summer move to Scotland.
Speaking to Football Insider following the news that Ibe is willing to take a pay cut in order to join Celtic, Whelan suggested the move could be good for the winger but he’d be under pressure after a poor spell with Bournemouth.
I think that is a move that suits all parties. Jordon has slipped off the grid again. A player that had great ability whilst at Liverpool but has gone to Bournemouth and not done a great deal.
To be given a lifeline with Celtic, Champions League football and challenging for the title, what an amazing turnaround that would be. He would need to grasp that with both hands because he did not have a good spell at Bournemouth. It is like Christmas all at once.
To go somewhere like Celtic and be winning things with a very good manager and a very good squad. This is his last chance.

Whelan does make an excellent point here, as Ibe’s time at Bournemouth means he will have a lot to prove at Celtic. After signing for the Cherries in a club-record £15 million move from Liverpool, Ibe has struggled to live up to that price tag with just five goals and nine assists for the club in 92 appearances.
And just how badly he has flopped on the South Coast in England is emphasised by the fact that Bournemouth are willing to let him leave for free once his contract expires this summer, despite breaking their club record to sign him.
Therefore, Ibe might be under a lot of pressure to prove himself at his next club, and even more so if he joins Celtic, given how next season could be a hugely important one in the club’s history with a possible 10th successive title to play for.
While Ibe could have an excellent chance to prove himself and turn over a new leaf at Celtic, it may well be his last chance to prove he has what it takes to play and succeed at the highest level.
