Former Leeds United forward Noel Whelan has tipped Celtic to reignite their interest in West Ham winger Robert Snodgrass in the New Year.
The Hoops, according to Sky Sports, launched a late loan move for the 33-year-old, however, the only deadline day arrival at Celtic Park was AC Milan left-back Diego Laxalt.
Snodgrass, who left Livingston for Leeds in 2008 and starred at Elland Road during his four-year stay, hasn’t featured for the Hammers in the Premier League this season.
The versatile winger is also out of contract at the London Stadium at the end of the season, although there is an option for that to be extended for a further 12 months.
Talking exclusively to Football Insider, Whelan tipped the Hoops to revisit their interest at the beginning of 2021.
I think it is a transfer that they might revisit in January.
I think it would be a good move for him. A Scotland lad and I am sure at some point he would like to go back home. Celtic could squeeze that last bit of quality out of him to help the team.
But will West Ham let him go? He is still coming on and doing a job for West Ham. They need all of the experience they can get right now.

If Celtic can secure Snodgrass’ services, the wide man would add plenty of experience to Neil Lennon’s side.
He’s approaching 500 senior appearances at club level, scoring 98 goals and providing 94 assists during his lengthy career, via Transfermarkt.
Hoops fans have seen with club captain Scott Brown that age doesn’t necessarily affect performance levels, and with Snodgrass being a boyhood Celtic fan, Lennon wouldn’t have to worry about the winger’s commitment to the cause at Parkhead.
