Celtic surrendered a two-goal lead in France on Thursday but managed to get their first Europa League points with a draw against Lille.

Two brilliant first-half goals from Mohamed Elyounoussi were cancelled out in the final 25 minutes by Zeki Celik and Jonathan Ikone.

However, despite the late slip-up, several Hoops fans have waxed lyrical over the display of loanee Diego Laxalt following his performance.

The 27-year-old, who made the move to Parkhead on deadline day, turned out for the fourth time in green and white.

He was the second-best performer on the park against Lille, behind Elyounoussi, with a WhoScored rating of 8.29.

The Uruguayan made an incredible 13 tackles and four interceptions during the 90 minutes – the same amount of tackles as the rest of the Celtic line-up combined.

@CPHamill shared the total tally shortly after full time in France, which led to these Hoops fans heaping praise on Laxalt as a result.

Celtic’s official Twitter account also shared the stat regarding Laxalt…
